Have a 2019 T4R TRD ORP. Wanting to put on TRD pro replica wheels in 17x8 5mm offset. I have 275/70/17s in stock suspension. Will the extra inch in width cause rubbing issues. I’m not wanting to lift. I know the OEM 17x7 will work but would like the extra inch of width.

3.5 lift all around. King in the front OME in the rear.. Other stuff..ya know, 4runner stuff...
You may just need to trim or remove the mud flaps. I went straight to a 285/70 with everything stock, and just removed my flaps, and all was well. I was even running 1.25" wheel spacers now that I remember. Stupid question.. why do you want replicas? I wouldn't worry about a wider wheel till you run a 295 or wider.

Thanks for the info!! I was going to go replicas because they were a better deal. Just wasn’t sure how the extra inch and 5mm offset woukx work. I don’t mind removing the mud flaps as I was going to do that anyway, but I surely don’t want to be using a heat gun to reform the fender liner.

Don't you already have TRD Pro wheels?

No I have an off road premium. Not a huge fan of the wheels it came with.

Interesting, are they being offered in a +5 mm offset now?

I have the six shooters that are 0 offset, with 275/70 tires. They did not rub on stock wheels and suspension, but after switching wheels they did rub. Nothing egregious, but did have to move the front guards, trim the bumper lip where the guards meet, and massage the flaps behind the tires.

You shouldn't be intimidated by heat-gun massaging, it's very easy. This ended up not being a cure-all for rubbing on the mud flaps anyway, so I drilled a few small holes and pulled them backward using a loop of twisted safety wire.

Short answer: yes, you will likely have to do some cosmetic trimming. Especially with a +5, this will increase your scrub radius.

My mistake, I mixed up offset directions. A positive offset will bring your wheel inside more. So you're gaining a half inch of total wheel width, but tucking it in almost 0.200 further than zero wheels. This might mean you have less trimming... My tires only rubbed on the outside edges.

He has TRD Offroad/Trail edition wheels. They are 17" x 7.5" so it's perfectly safe to run 295/70R17 tires.

The SR5 and TRD PRO wheels are 17" x 7"
The trail edition wheels are 17" x 7.5"

It is completely safe to run 295/70R17 tires on 7.5" width rim
Now, if you run 305/70R17 or 315/70R17 then you BETTER switch to the FN wheels 17" x 8"

Lets see what gets rubbed by the tire in the process.

Yeah the OP was asking about larger tires with stock suspension. No way those size tires are fitting without serious cutting of things. Or just watch stuff fly off the vehicle as your tires rub the crap out of it over normal roads. :D:laugh::laughing:

For stock suspension. 285/70R17 is the largest you want to go and trimming definitely needed for sure. Body Mount Chop probably needed too. However you don't necessarily need to switch to FN wheels 17" x 8" but if you want you can...
