Rotated tires. All the brakes looked barely worn at nearly 49k. At this rate I may get a 100k out of them.

I check mine every rotation while at Discount Tire. I'm at 103K on mine and just around 1/4 pad or less. You may very well get 100K with them looking like that.

    Clean looking calipers!

Apparently I‘ve been pretty tough on mine. My rears were at the noisemakers by approximately 50k miles. Fronts probably had another 15 to 20k but I changed them out at the same time. I have permanent extra weight in back (and overall), and 33s. Also I have been through a few puddles. My reduced mileage makes sense given the use and mods, even if I hoped for more.

I've been getting 60k out of mine, but I live on a steep mountain. Going down hill daily takes its toll on my brakes.

It's not the pads that wear first though, it's my rotors.

How do you mean the rotors wear out first? Is it because they pulse?

Or are they actually wearing below spec?

I don’t think they use a lot of salt in SW Idaho. They do apply a liquid deicer to the streets prior to the arrival of a winter storm. Mainly use sand. Winter in the valley is typically very mild, it’s desert. Eastern and Northern Idaho gets more snow.

I replaced mine at 70 something and didn’t need to.
