Hello, someone was giving these running boards for free so I picked them up. He said they were from a Toyota 4Runner Limited 2019, but the brackets look different than any I can find, and they attach differently on the back.

    Guessing they’re probably aftermarket?
I was hoping someone could possibly identify these for me? Thank you.

Those do appear to be 5th gen 4R Limited boards. Those look like the OEM that came from like 2016+ i believe.

That’s what I originally had thought, but when looking at the other side, they’re completely different:

Idk if you can tell, but the mounting brackets attach to a sliding metal block. I figured maybe it was just the year they were made or something, but I’ve looked for hours and I haven’t been able to find OEM ones that have the same attachment method or brackets.

Yeah I noticed the sliding bracket. Those would appear to be an aftermarket bracket. This would allow you to adjust the boards up and down to fit the different mounting heights the boards would need on a Limited model vs SR5 model. These models have different lower molding. The SR5 doesn’t hang down as low as the Limited. This requires the limited to have longer brackets because the boards have to sit lower due to the lower side molding.

Those brackets would allow you to fit those boards on either vehicle which makes you think they’re aftermarket. However the board itself looks a whole lot like an OEM offering.

Here finally ran across a picture. Notice the BOARD appears to be an exact copy of the OEM board shown here in pictures.
The brackets on your boards however appear to be aftermarket. The board you have may also be an aftermarket remake of the OEM boards. This link shows you the newer rounded end boards that come from the factory and are also available in black for the Nightshade versions.

    thank you for looking!

I was able to find these aftermarket remake ones that don’t have the exact same brackets, but they have the same sliding blocks for mount points.

So with the brackets, you think they would fit on the limited and sr5? Or just the limited?

    thank you again

Welcome from Wisconsin! Do the adjustable brackets help them fit on your 4Runner? The spacing of the mounts looks right, good luck.

    Welcome.

What year and model are you trying to fit the running boards on?

I am quite confident the height adjustment in those brackets would allow them to fit both the SR5 and Limited. I suspect that is the sole purpose of those adjustable length brackets. The body is the same, the mounting points are the same, the only difference is how low the side molding hangs below the door, which is why the Limited brackets are longer than the SR5. Adjustable brackets would allow you to put them on either vehicle.

I remember reading somewhere that Limited models required a different attachment in the boards to come down further as compared to other trims.

I think this topic was raised because I had asked about the chrome trim insert board pictured above as compared to a similar board but with a brushed aluminum trim insert as opposed to the shiny chrome.

I recall someone pointing out the body moldings on a limited are lower than say an SR5 or ORP and as result needed a modified bracket to attach OEM running boards.
