Anyone replace alternator bushings

2022. I’ve been reading about replacing the alternator bushings as part of preventive maintenance. Has anyone done this? If so how did it go.

I keep one of those cigarette lighter widgets plugged in that has the volt meter. I've never seen anything lower than 13.8, or higher than 14.2 in any circumstance. Assume my alt bushings are good.

 

Yeah I have a radar detector that shows the voltage. I have 78k miles on my 22. Was just wondering because the brushes do wear down.

 

That's a bunch of horseshit. I've got 190K on the original alternator. Never been touched. They're damn good from the factory.

Alternator brushes around 200,000 miles, yes. Bushings - I’ve never had a bushing failure in 1.5 million miles on Toyotas.

 

Miles? or RPMs ???? Seems to me, the alt would spin with just rpm. Milage isnt a thing.

To each their own,... eh. ?? (and at idle, with little load , i like AGM cells. Higher charge. Just me)

EDIT- You are worrying about nothing. I would just replace your alt at 400k miles. Bushings or brushes imho. The OEM denso's are bullet proof. Insanely bullet proof. Id be asking about "batteries" more than the alternator. ( i run 2 bats)

 

Miles. You can't track revolutions of the alternator, though that would be more accurate. Miles driven at least gives you a ballpark.

 

Alternators don't have brushes.

 

While it's true that some types of alternators don't have brushes, most if not all automotive type alternators do have brushes and Toyota alternators indeed have brushes.

They do. But I did find out that you can't replace the ones on a Honda Fit.
