What have you done to your 5th Gen 4Runner today?

Vacuumed interior and new rear wiper insert! Hunted all over the net and the local dealer parts counter turned out to be the best option.

 

Put the Tuxmat in today. I had to teak all of them to work with other mods (fire extinguisher mount, cellphone floor mount, under seat sub). Material is foam core making cutting easy, added door edge to the cuts. Came out ok for keeping them removable.

 

Took the family out for a little cruise this weekend to Great Wolf Lodge in MD. Somehow we managed to walk 8 miles just inside the place doing the Quest stuff. Oye!

 

Had to reschedule the suspension/lift appt to next week...which gives me time to finish up a few things on Photon before the trip.

My wife and I drove the 2011 to the gym.

 

Po'd at myself. pulled into the off airport parking & the arrows directed me & 2 vans were lined up in front of me so I took the sop that was open Wicked tight Tesla on Pa side seemed close. Then the van drives around to the right of where i pulled in & boat load of open spots! I told the driver "why'd they direct me to that area, tight spot" He took for ever to keep loading the van until 1 open seat.!! I'll be thinking about a door ding till I get back to parking on Friday afternoon!! From now on I'm going to where I want & F those stupid arrows on the pavement!!!

 

I toyed with the idea of trading it in. Then decided it was a bad idea. It was nice to see that my 4Runner is worth $2k MORE than what I paid for it (with 22k miles on it).

Nah, I did consider it for half a second. Then I saw the price of a 4Runner equal to mine, and that thought left my brain pretty quick.

 

That quest stuff is annoying as hell. I will never do that again, what a waste of time. But I love GWL because I don’t have to worry about sunscreen every couple of hours.

 

What would you buy instead?

I wonder how much mine is worth with less than 4k miles. I’ll sell it if they offer me $80k. lol.

 

I would buy an ass load of raptor lights, obviously.

 

true, true and true. You know what helps on the journey? Beer! Almost every dad i passed on the “quests” had one in hand. Haha!

 

Since you wouldn't have a truck to put them on.you should wire a battery in your jacket so while you're walking around you could light them.

 

Installed the Gobi Stealth rack this past weekend and had the front windows tinted to match the rest a couple months ago. Taking a little roadtrip this weekend, so I'll get to test out the rack.

 

Added these drawers with magnetic back so they stay closed. Got them from Etsy.

We added some new garden beds and the wife now wants a walking path around the beds. These were 5 for 10, so perfect for this.
And yes, around 400 lbs from the mulch and another 50 pounds from a bird bath we got from Lowe's. The 4runner does well with a little weight in the back.
I am on stock suspension but it's brand new suspension. I changed everything other than the coils and inner tie rods last year at about 185k.

Started it from the living room.

I picked up a new 2025 Tacoma for the office, and the salesman showed me how the fob can be used as a remote start. He told me that the same function was built in to our TRD Pro 4Runner. (2024).
Tried it when I got home....wife is very happy. My days of going out at 5:30 am at 25 below to warm it up for her are over.

 

…but it’s locked n turns off when you open it right?
