4 Runner Back Looks Lifted

Hey All, thinking of purchasing this, and becoming part of the community.
Does that back look a little off here, like its lifted a bit but the front is not. Also car fax shows brake pads changed at 20k which I thought was odd. Thanks in advance.

That is the normal stance of a 4Runner. They all sit a little lower in the front. It does look like it might have bigger tires than the factory 265/70/17's. The wheels aren't original. As for the brakes, it probably didn't need them, but a "trusted" shop sold the owner on new ones.The value of a rear wheel drive is lot less than a 4 wheel drive, the price seems high.

 

Looks like the front end has sagged, which is normal with stock suspension after a year or so.

Brake pad wear depends on usage pattern. Florida urban stop and go traffic can do it.

 

This was my 2021 SR5, factory suspension. Looks the same to me. Welcome to the forum.

 

This is normal. It's called "The factory rake". The back is slightly higher than the front. The reasoning is when you tow, the back will sag juuuuust enough and level the 4Runner out. If you want to fix it because it bothers you (and it bothers a lot of people), get a spacer lift or some bilsteins for the front.

Seems to me it’s a bit over-priced for a 2WD. But what do I know. They don’t make the trusty fifth gens any more.
Start with a lower offer and try to deal from there if need be.

I found my 4runner on Cargurus.com, each listing has the amount of time the truck has been for sale, do a 500 mile search. Mine had been on the lot for 71 days, I offered a non refundable deposit if they would work with me over the phone. Ended up getting it for $3k less than local, if you don't need a truck right away, take your time.

 

normal, thats a 2wd, they sit lower in the front than a 4wd.
the 4wd is about 1.5" lower in the front than the back
the 2wd is about 2.2" lower in the front than the back
its shorter front springs on the 2wd models that makes them shorter

 

A 2wd 4runner, why!?!?! So stupid. Like buying a Mustang or Corvette and it haveing a 4 cyl in it.

Because only about 1% if owners actually Offroad their 4R and probably less than 10% actually use 4wd in snow situations.
A 2wd variant is great for the urban owners who will never get the tires dirty and it’s cheaper and it’s got less moving parts and it gets better fuel mileage and it turns sharper.
My daily driver is a 2wd and it has the limited slip rear end and it goes absolutely everywhere. Climbs hills and run gravel and dirt roads, snow sleet and ice and i have never been in a situation where I was scared to attempt to go. I’ve been in terrible snow sleet and ice storms and kept driving with no issues.
You don’t gotta have a 4wd to go places and I’d venture to say less than 5% of 4R owners have ever used 4wd. I’ve never regretted owning my 2008 daily driver due to ir being a 2wd.

 

Id like to know why the ORP doesnt have the same rake as the SR5 since it lacks the pro's 1" up front and the rear coils are the same...

I think the rake is a way Toyota improved gas mileage and other road-related priorities. The front angle of attack is still pretty good.

 

I agree with this statement on the whole. But I think the numbers are higher than you stated. But, we'll never know because we won't get all owners to submit feedback data for accurate numbers. Several months ago I did a little off roading on the way to work and after it was over I thought to myself "Holy crap, I forgot to shift into 4H!"

The 4Runner is a highly capable vehicle in 2 wheel high. If you have the skills and the right tires, then you can do A LOT in 2 wheel drive.

 

What makes you think they have different rakes?

 

b/c a ORP doesnt look as ass up as a SR5..but is supposedly the same
