We have the Evos on our 2020. With the Evos, you can not turn the DRLs off with the factory switch. When we had the Gen 2 XB's, we could turn those off with the factory switch. We moved the XB's to our sons 2016, and we can turn them off with his stock switch.

Topic derail......getting any closer to the release on the Evos for the Tundras yet?

 

Certainly closer, but going through full detail is challenging to achieve with speed. Tundra will have full, newly designed side-specific reflector and projector hybrid optics . I am still giving the optical mold division a hard time, because I want to make sure the product has a correctly controlled quality lamp.
I 100% promise that I am working on them the hardest, getting many lamps out There are a few models that need to come out before the Tundra lamp comes to the front end que.

Welp.. 4Runner Lifestyle has a 10% off sale and I had $120 gift card points so I just ordered them. Not too keen on the stupid fuse tap. I’m hoping maybe I can wire it to my light switch panel.

Anyone know what used great condition factory LEDs go for roughly?

I agree. That's the only thing holding me back, as well. My 24 does not take kindly to any fuse tap.

 

Yeah that was a sticking point for me but I ended up buying and installing them. So far I’m happy with them, just check the aim on them after install. Mine were very low out of the box, had to raise them a bunch after running them I think I still need to go a little higher.

 

Did you run them to the inj fuse? I’m going to play with it and see if they will work on a non important fuse that has acc power first.

 

Use the extension cable that comes with it, to run thru the firewall to your interior panel and hook it up to the cig/power fuse / radio fuse.

I personally do similar by running a trigger wire out from the interior panel to a relay in the engine bay that is directly connected to the battery, so the draw on the add a circuit tap is tiny and I can use it for other items like the backlights on my diode dynamics pods.

 

I ran it per the Morimoto instructions on the web. Figured might as well stay with their specs in case something happens I can say I followed their instructions. So yes I used the INJ fuse.

 

I've had these installed for the last 6 months and they have been perfect until now. I have the black "key" installed, amber sequential, but my drivers side DRL is white. I've tried unplugging the key and plugging it back in, and it worked for a day then went back to white. Has anyone experienced this issue or have a solution to this?

 

I believe we had a few cases reported. it should not be acting like that. Please report to CS your observation, have case established, we will have the team look into how to replicate the condition to narrow down the exact cause and solution. And for the defect unit, process replacement.

 

Seems like you should be able to get ahold of the defective units fairly easily if processing replacements. I’ve been burned by Morimoto CS before on multiple occasions. I was on the fence but firmly in the “will not buy” category now. Not the first report of this, or similar issue and just won’t deal with CS should something happen

 

Could you share your issue description and serial number with me? I will take the CS case established if they are not responding to you. I am lead for XB Evo project, but I do not have direct capability to handle the warranty process myself, as I am a designer, but I have the ability to escalate. I have informed RD and QC team, and myself also checking possible causes. One of the issues found in the earlier case was selector pin tension became weak ( this can include corrosion to the pin terminals), resulting in inadequate pin contact inside the selector connector. There may be a logic level issue, but first, please check by swapping the selector from one side to another, to see if DRL color issue follows the selector to sort out the hardware level issue.

 

Hey Yoshi, I appreciate you and your communication with the different communities. It’s nice to see a vendor that is open about the potential problems with a product. My issue is with Morimoto customer service due to previous interactions with them on completely different products. I don’t have these Evo lights yet and have been sitting on the fence. Once you can get the issue sorted with other customers, then I might get them, but for now, my desire to avoid customer service is driving my decision to not purchase

 

I have tried to reach out to the Morimoto CS, but haven't heard back after about a week. I heard mixed reviews about the response time.

 

Allow me to assist with bringing it up. Reply with your serial or order number, vehicle trim, and the type of harness used
plz. Have you tried to swap the key to the problem side to ok side, to see if the condition followed the key or not? It helps sort out hardware issues at least.

 

Does this new model have an improved coating? The brutal sunshine cooked my friend's XBs within six months of moving here.

 

Regarding the Fuse tap, I have purchased these and was thinking of running the fuse tap to the interior fuse box and plugging into one of the IGN fuses. Anyone see any issues with this, or have done this and had any problems?

The coating had been improved significantly( compare to XBs), the weather acceleration test has been showing stronger resistance than OE lens. However, this does not deny all possibility of lens wear pace. pace of Mechanical injury to the lens coating determines its life. PPF is suggested for new purchase, pre-cut model specific PPF is available

 

Where is it available? I know some of the shops do headlight PPF and have the computer templates for it. And updates for the 14-21 Tundra Evos? Thanks.

 

LMX2-531 It's in the drop-down menu when purchasing. I ask if they sell individually. Lamin-X is contracted for pre-cut ones as far as I know. About 14-21 Tundra, I am still stubbornly refining the assist reflector tolerance, every other check box has been completed, and the last tasks to be cleared.

 

I have the exact same thing going on. Contacted CS and they responded within 24hrs. He had me swap the keys and the problem stayed with the light. They immediately sent me brand new set of lights (2 days to arrive) and I'll be installing them this weekend. Hopefully this resolves the issue.

Just got my set. I'd definitely like the pre-cut film; doesn't look like it's listed for sale on its own.

 

Damn, I would have snagged it for mine.

 

How would one go about getting these films for the lights? I just installed my lights a couple weeks ago and would love to get the film put on them.
