I just seen this slick GX470 while a Value Village with the kiddos, and the family opened the entire back hatch like a big door on a hinge…Get out!

 

I wish I saved more pics and videos. All I have is this one youtube videos still saved. Think most of my stuff was saved on fquick before it disappeared.

I miss it but was for the better. Sold it to buy our first house and soon we will be on house #3 so family wise it was worth it. And wife had a matching 08 as well but kept hers stock.

I miss my 2016 tacoma. It was just to hard to fit a rear facing car seat in. Reason for now owning a 4runner.

 

2006 limited V8. Sold after 10 years and just over 100K miles. It was still like new. Miss it more than any other vehicle I've ever owned.

The only vehicle I let go that I wish I put some money into it to keep on the road was the family hand-me-down 1991 Corolla DX Wagon. The engine blew at about 240k miles and I was in my graduate school at the time and the family decided to scrapped it and get a newer car.

The paint on the E90 cars was total cluster-F but other than that the build quality was phenomenal with the wagons being built in Japan. At that time there was a noticeable difference between the J vin wagons and the Corollas coming out of NUMMI and Ontario. At 240k miles there was zero squeak or rattle. We beat the crap out of that poor thing with its 3 speed automatic. I did more offroading and mudding in that thing than I will ever do in my 4Runners. LOL.

 

I may be wrong (but I'm not), that looks like a model/RC car.

It was the glued on wiper blades that stood out when I saw it. I was like "Thaaaaat looks like a model car."

 

and the brass discs inside the wheels, the crawlers use those to add weight as low as possible to lower COG

Looks more like an H2. The H1 had independent front and rear suspension, which gave it crazy center ground clearance. Not sure if H2 had SFA but I'm positive they had a solid rear. That looks more AI generated than anything real I've seen

 

Just a few things I see that makes me think it's AI generated...

1. Has winch fairlead but no cable or hook coming out
2. Had to tell from shadowing but appears no rearview mirror
3. Nobody would make aggressive tires like that with no sidewall tread. But props for balloon tires on what looks like 15" wheels. That's spank bank material right there
4. There is an "H" badge on the front fender where they scrubbed the number after - maybe it says "Hilux"?
5. Door handles in both front and rear appear to have keyhole, but so does the front door panel. I've never seen a keyhole in a rear door/door handle

My guess is this is the result of someone asking AI what it would look like if the FJ Cruiser and H2 had a baby

 

Miss this old pos. Built short block and a t28 running 25 psi. 340lb ft of torque. 6 speed manual. I do miss doing proper AWD donuts. (The 4Runner cannot do them as well unfortunately)

 

Miss this one too. 93 240sx. Welded the differential, simple angle kit and some coilovers. It was a second gear hero at the local autocross and drift events.

 

I was disappointed that the HX (or H4 concept) never materialized. This was when I was still single though and a 2-door was still in the mix

Yeah, the mega Cruiser did exist but that was a long time ago. In the article it said you'd have to add "a ton" of weight to make it meet today's safety standards. That may have been an exaggeration but may allude to why we don't see the types of vehicles we all fell in love with a long time ago.

Is that 2nd photo a J70 (or whatever it is that is available in Australia thats been built for decades)? I'm a fan of those as well - I assume Australia doesn't have the same emissions and safety standards as the US or Canada or they'd be available here
