I guess if you're never planning on towing anything... I would keep the stuff you took off. If you ever sell, the new owner might want the receiver and the trailer connections. I know I would.

Is there some sort of a plate on the backside of the support to spread the load? Do you have any pics of the inside attaching pieces?

Good thinking. Are those bolts graded? Are they through bolted or what?

The backplate is very similar to OEM, except the new one does not have to support vertical or sustained loads. There were additional weld points behind the eyehole piece. Hoping it'll work out fine in a recovery situation.
Unfortunately did not think of taking more photos before assembly.

Valance isn't going back on, not the least because this would be covered by the valance anyways. The oem hitch receiver droops down and clears the bumper and the valance. I had to trim part of the bumper with this for a decent fit.

    Yeah kinda figured
Didn’t know if you were gonna make a small
hole or notch it out…I was imagining a very minimalistic rear recovery hook but would be worried of possible interference

    Seems very legit to me

I like the idea. I'm not a fan of the holes for the valance showing. I think I might opt for a replacement SR5 bumper cover if I wanted to run one of those, and maybe trim that smaller hitch surround trim piece that goes on an SR5 also and put that back on. But, your 4R, your choice.

Whereas the hitch was the low point in the rear, it's now the spare tire.

After a bit of trimming and taping I think looks good!
