Had to travel way down South to Florida for Business on super short notice and encountered I-4.

This cat seems to bend the rules of reality in regards to rules of the road.

I wanted to check in and get the latest intel from the "locals" as to what is the acceptable norm.... seems to be the Wild West with preference for the far right as the De Facto lane for passing.

Will add it has been a few years (less than 20) of LA, San Fran and Atlanta and this was really eye opening.

Bring me up to speed on what I have missed out on being off grid for a spell.

    Thanks All!

    Oooh look, another mod.....

First things first: It's not called South Florida. It's called "North Cuba".

...that's what we called it when I lived in Florida.

I don't know how I-4 got to be a "Interstate" highway anyway since it's entirely within the state of Florida!!

It was built with federal highway money. Giving it it's classification.

He didn't say South Florida lol. He said south to Fl. I-4 runs from Tampa Bay to Orlando and the east coast of the state...nowhere near south Fl. Just giving you a hard time by the way.

I-4 is an absolute daily nightmare. It is known as malfunction junction where it meets 275.

There are no rules of engagement. It is just Russian roulette on any part of it.

some areas move at 5mph for miles on end while at others, you get passed like you are standing still but doing 85mph yourself.

“I survived” tees are handed out at each off ramp.

Driving on Fla. I-4 is one thing with a car, driving on it with a semi is another. This is not the worst road really.... just aggressive I think describes it.

We visited FL a handful of times and drove that (Orlando—Tampa). I don’t remember anything out of the ordinary except for traffic in certain spots.

    Or did I miss something?

    Oooh look, another mod.....

True. People need to remember this: With all the states now allowing conceal & carry permits, then you video cameras on all the highways and most major roads. THEN you have the increasing number of people with dash cams....

If you act a fool on the road you'll run into trouble. Everyone needs to think about that before they decide to road rage with someone. Someone could be recording your event or worse...the other person could pull out their gun and shoot you.

The news in Dallas/Fort Worth is littered with news stories about road range. I hear about 2 of them per week and it seems to be getting worse.

I4, Turn signals are optional. Assume everyone is drunk, high, texting or senile. If anyone pisses you off, assume they are packing heat and ignore. There is no “zipper” culture when two lanes are merging. Courtesy is dead.
    Tourist season is slightly worse.

    Less than 2 years ago.

But I’m used to daily traffic in SoCal. It could be 11pm or 4am and I could hit traffic on the freeway.

Speaking of I-4, there was a shooting at I-4 and 275 about 2:30 AM. A group of motorcycles were acting like idiots and a driver started filming them. One of them saw it and started shooting multiple rounds at his car.

The wife and I were in Texas so her kid can graduate with the Air Force. Some of the worst drivers I've ever seen. Period. It was a zoo
