Hey all I just purchased a 2018 TRD pro , it seams that the muffler was changed and sounds like crap . LOUD at low speed . any recommendations to get back to original quiet exhaust without breaking the bank would be greatly appreciated.

Get the stock version and be done. I have written so many posts on this subject. I tried just about everything and they all suck like hell. The stock is quiet and your ears will thank you.

You can get an OEM like muffler welded into your existing piping at a local muffler shop for like $200.

I wouldn't mess with aftermarket. Get underneath take some pics and I will tell you what you got. Unless your Pro is damaged somehow and you are sucking air or the previous owner put something different.

There has to be someone out there with a stock exhaust. I'd post in the WTB or for sale section and see if someone hits you up.

I agree with OEM recommendations. If you plan to keep your truck for a long time, OEM lasts essentially forever.

I would MUCH rather have a stock exhaust that is 100% bolt on. Have you seen the welds from 99% of muffler shops?

For the record, I weld mufflers on frequently at work.

I was actually going to see how this thread goes and maybe offer to help OP weld this if he lives in the Bay Area, and would tell him hey, the welds would be about on par with most muffler shops.

And they muffler shop replacements are usually super cheap and rust through in 3’or 4 years. Unless you spend much more than 200 bucks

Tell me about it. One time, many years (decades) ago, I was driving my 93 ranger down the highway. All of a sudden the exhaust got extremely loud. I thought I blew my engine, lol.

The exhaust completely separated towards the front. I'm talking pipes hanging down. I had recently got my flow master installed by a local muffler shop. It's hit or miss for sure.

OEM likes to rot out at the flange downstream of the muffler. Common to see used 5th gens older than 10 years with the exhaust replaced due to rust.

So I bought the truck without getting a real thorough look at the other carriage now that I have I can easily see that they change it to a flung master exhaust and it sounds like s*** after doing some homework on Toyota.com it doesn't differentiate between a TRD exhaust and a regular exhaust as I put it in for the vehicle that I have and it was no different from a regular SR5 what would be a fair price to pay for a used set cat pipe back

I recently had someone offer a 2022 trd pro exhaust , but now was told by a toyota mechanic that it will not work on my 2019 TRD pro , dose anyone know for sure if it will work or not?

No you just order the parts from Toyota. You need the muffler and the rear pipe because they use 2 bolts on the normal one and 3 on the Pro exhaust which is a bit annoying because it increases the price. Plus some grommets and stuff.

Someone with more experience will definitely chime in, but there is a difference between exhaust on some TRD models and non-TRD model such as the SR5, the TRD exhaust can be very expensive. I would look for a stock exhaust on craigslist or offer up or space book
    And welcome from Dago :hattip:

Another member just informed me that the reason it won't work is because the tailpipe won't made up to the exhaust pipe on the TRD pro now I'm waiting for his response to see if the brackets line up or not The TRD pro exhaust has three bolts between the muffler and the tail pipe I believe
