Anyone have Toyota do the installation for front and rear shocks? I have a 2015 Trail w/o KDSS. Just wondering how many hours they would charge for. Thanks in advance.

A lot of money. They will charge you the factory time to do the job. Do you have local shops near you that work on Toyota?

Do you know what the factory time is ? I do have local shops around. Don't think they specialize in Toyota's but don't think they need to for just shocks.

Ask the dealer then check with local shops. My mechanic did it for less than half of what the dealer wanted.

Dealership quoted me $900 for labor to install Bilstein HD (4600 I believe) on all 4 corners - this included alignment. Small local shop with good mechanics did it for $600 and I’ve had no issues.

Wow, that's crazy. That's just labor not including the cost for the shocks?

Do it yourself? It's not difficult. You don't even need a spring compressor. I've change my complete suspension system out about 5 times, and I haven't used a compressor yet. I can do the fronts in about an hour. A little less with the rears.

For reference, I had a dealer quote me at $500 for install of 4 corners on a Tacoma.

I don't remember for sure what my dealer charged for the ToyTec Ultimate lift, but I am sure it was more than an independent. But, the dealer guaranteed that the lift would not effect the factory warranty if the work was done by them. The extra for that assurance was worth it to me.

I'm rounding - but around $500 for the shocks install labor, $75 for alignment and the rest for sales tax.

You're really not doing anything difficult by changing the shocks. Loosening and tightening a few bolts here and there. Of course you will need a floor jack, some jack stands and some tools, but those will all together cost you a lot less than all of the quotes on here to have someone else complete the job.

Check out some youtube videos on the process of removing the shocks without a spring compressor. The scariest part is just the anticipation of doing the job. Once you start it, you realize it's really not that hard.
