Swapped out the underwhelming backup light bulbs on my 23. When its dark and I put it in reverse you can barely tell a difference, so swapped to these based on recommendations here. Will see how they look tonight once it gets dark. Hoping it helps with the backup camera at night as well, will see.

 

Yes so far it's performing like it did on day one. Worked fine at -7F this winter. Haven't tried it in summer heat of course. At max setting, it's brighter than the Meso dome light, useful for finding dropped items in the front footwell.

From my experience with the CTH tailgate lights, which have a similar design, the solder joint connecting the harness to the circuit board can be a weak point. I recommend having a soldering iron on hand and checking the joint for security before install.

 

I installed LED tag light and reverse light bulbs not too long after getting the 4R. Made a night and day difference compared to the halogens when it came to the camera. Sylvania brand and picked them up from Advanced Auto for around $10. Going over 2 years with them now and zero issues so far.

 

Not sure how relevant it would be, today my friend's 2025 Land Cruiser experienced the sudden loss of power. Long story short he's at a traffic light, when lights turns green press the gas little harder, The vehicle started with a good power and the next second it completely lost power for next 5-6 seconds, then its goes normal. No lights / error messages on dash.

Good for him I did not let him lift or any other mods. If anything happens we can take it to Toyota without any doubt.

 

Man that sucks, hope they figure that nonsense out.

 

That sucks. It’s probably something related to the hybrid system switching from electric to gas.

I found the cameras still sucked with upgraded reverse lights and plate lights. If one has the means, and is willing to crawl under the truck for one of the wiring options, I highly recommend any affordable led pods tucked up tight under bumper cover. (there’s two factory bolts that are absolutely perfect fasteners):

Xpel black door sill tape. Long overdue since my drivers side was scratched up but it works great.

 

What I thought, when he thinks he feels like its a transmission issue. I told him it sound like a computer glitch and since the motor generator sandwiched at the transmission when the hybrid system stops it has zero power vs Toyota crossovers with hybrid.
