I am looking between 22-24 trd pro or ORP the ORP I am leaning towards kdss for on road manners. I have read that with kdss max lift would be about 2-2.5 inch lift. I may want to go as big as 35 inch tires but I should be fine with 33s. So my main question is will the fox shocks on the PRO become an issue with a lift? As I have heard they have had issues with the fox shocks in general. This will be road tripping vehicle as well as an off roader. Any advice would be helpful.

Get whichever is cheaper and use the money you save for better tires and any other mods you need.

I have a 24 pro and the shocks are fine. Ride smooth as butter. The 23/24 fox shocks were changed from the 21/22 design

With the pro you will also get trd exhaust, different climate controls, roof rack, as well as the jbl amp and subwoofer in the rear

It is 100% worth it if you believe stock is the best approach. Why anyone would buy a or and then spend $10k on aftermarket crap is beyond me for a dd. Take one look at the suspension forum, full of people having all kinds of issues. Stock OEM is always best...resale, reliability, etc. etc.

If you're going to install a suspension lift, then you will most likely have to replace the stock shocks with longer ones. In that case, why pay extra for the Pro, only to replace the shocks/springs?

We went with the ORP and put a full Dobinsons suspension under it. We have KDSS. Works fantastic!

We road tripped from Michigan to Utah and are spending the next two weeks exploring. Did the San Rafael Swell area two days ago and are now in Hurricane for a week. Next week off to Moab!

    This setup does it all.

For comfort and reliability I will vote for TRD Pro or ORP without KDSS.
I even love building SR5 too.
Even a Limited if someone knows how to change the low hanging bumpers and thicker rocker panels. (When I looks its a nightmare to swap the bumpers and install the parking sensors. the rear wheel well end cap is another big challenge.)

    + TRD PRO
To my eyes the benefit to have a TRD PRO is standard features like JBL sound system (my fav), Automatic headlights (convenient).
Many would appreciate having dual automatic climate control, heated steering, 360 camera, blind spot monitoring, etc...
Note that older TRD Pros have none of these. No moonroof, no JBL, no dual auto climate control, no nothing.

    - TRD PRO
I'm not a big fan of TRD Pro shocks. They are OK, decent highway and gravel / forest roads. But per my taste not upto something medium range like Ironman FCP or highend suspension like ELKA 2.5DC.
I'm not a fan of skinny TRD Pro wheels as well. I love the wider TRD ORP wheels since I like to run wider 285/70R17 tires under tire manufacturers specification.
Sure the TRD Pro skid looks good but I love the RCI skids I install on my ORP having easy access for oil change and extendable for adding transmission and transfercase skids.
I'm not a fan of TRD Pro roof rack on 2019+. To my eyes its a big air brake. Less accessory mounting support. Reduce garage clearance if you were to lift. Has more wind noise.
I'm not a fan of TRD exhaust. Its extremely noisy in mountain highways. If I were to keep the stock TRD PRO look with side exhaust and use much quiet SR5 muffler it require cutting and welding. The end mounts do not match.

You left out the worthless Predator step bars . Seems like every Pro made in the last few years comes with this 7-8 hundred dollar junk option.

I think the trd pro shock issue was fixed in 2021. You'll get mixed opinions on which is better. I for one love the trd fox shocks for what I do.

But if you got the money get a trd pro, add eibach trd pro lift springs, you'll be able to fit 33s with minor trimming(if you keep oem wheels). 35s if you trim+bmc+hammering+ regear

You don't want to lift higher than 2-2.5" either way. Lift doesn't clear tires on these, lifting high looks cool but only robs you of down travel.

Alignment and wheel specs have more impact on tire fitment than lift height.

If you plan on swapping out the suspension there is not really much reason to buy the Pro IMO. I knew I was going to modify mine so I went with a ORP and haven’t regretted it at all.

I didn’t want KDSS, mine drives perfectly without it and just an added expense up front along with issues possible in the future.

My opinion, the ORP is the better option if you plan to lift the vehicle. If I chose a Pro, I would have left it bone stock, except for that dumb roof rack.

ORP without KDSS. You won't miss the small amount of differences in the Pro. Put the $ you save into upgrading it the way you want.

Just want to correct you that you don't need lift on Pros to fit 33s, it's 100% down to alignment.

Stock fox shocks will have zero issues with 33s. Go find yourself a quality alignment tech to dial in the fitment for you and you should have no problem even off road.

I've experienced the knocking issue on my PTR21... front shocks but dealer replaced under warranty with PTR24... parts.

Eibach offers two kits for the Pro, +1.4" or +2.5" for the front, bringing your total lift to 2.4" or 3.5" compared to a stock OR, with just a set of springs. Once you think about it that way, it's not bad.

Only option that was added at the port was the sliding rear cargo deck. Its ok i guess. Would be cool to put a fridge on the slide out

If you plan to run 35s, there will be almost nothing left stock in the suspension. Get the OR if it's cheaper (most likely will be).

I've seen more Pros with the equally worthless body-mounted fake sliders. Pick your overpriced poison lol.

Yes your correct. I'm running 285s on stock pro suspension. But I trimmed, hammered and bmc(I'm running -12 offset wheels)
