Basically the title. I 've put in a new system but have not yet gone in and got it tuned because I'm not sure if I want tweeters or not.

For anyone who has them - did it make a huge difference? Do you feel like you NEED them? Are they life changing?

Everything I've done on my 4runner I've tried to make it look relatively stock or classically handsome. I went with the Dasaita HU because it's the most stock looking out there. Amps are under the seat. Sub is the hidden JL Audio Stealth. I've tried to make everything as clean as possible outside of the stereo as well. And to that end, I didn't want to cut the plastics in the A-pillars or have tweeters there because it it just doesn't look stock. But I'm on the fence and looking for opinions.

Here's what I have so far with 2 channels available for tweeters on the VX600/6i.

    Audiofrog GS25 x2 (dash)
Audiofrog GS62 x4 (rear doors and hatch)
    Audiofrog GS690 x2 (front doors)
JL Audio Stealthbox with 10TW3-D4 x1
    JL Audio VX600/6i x1
    JL Audio VX1000/5i x1

I replaced the anemic dash speakers with Infinity Reference 3.5" if that counts. even with the stock head unit, the sound quality improved dramatically. I wouldn't mount anything on the A-pillars, like you said it would look weird. Do you like the Dasaita unit?

What do you have in the dash now?

I put JL component speakers in front on mine, with the tweeters in the original dash speaker location. I'm very happy with this setup. I haven't gotten around to upgrading the rest of the system, yet. But, just switching to a better front speaker setup provided a notable improvement.

Aa mentioned by @Tama1968 , I've heard of people putting better dash speakers in as well.

Not really. I still need to take the car in and tune the amps. So right now I just have levels adjusted in the Dasaita. The Dasaita compared to a Kenwood 10 inch floating HU sounds like garbage. Start up takes a while. Its reset a few times on me. Sometimes it takes a while to switch to the backup cam. Its cheap chinese garbage but the fit and finish is really good.

Just thinking of adding tweeters to the A pillars

Seems like a kick ass set-up!

It looks like those are good up to 20 KHZ, so you might be fine without tweeters. Is it a big hassle to add them later?

I don't care for the idea of modifying the A pillars much myself.

Yeah probably not really worth it over 20khz. Really good point there.

I REALLY don’t know what I’m talking bout n @Thacrow ive mentioned before my interest in upgrading the sound in my truck to you

    HOWEVER

based on what I’ve seen you do with all this, I feel like you COULD cleanly put tweeters in a-pillar… I bet you’d be able to have them match n blend nicely

    side note:
What I’m really envisioning is maybe a mock up with something same width/depth that you could finagle to see how the eyes dig it…to me, it seems like it would almost be like having 2 small extra vents right there that just happen to make the sound just right?
    Again, I’m clueless

Seems like it wouldnt look that bad if you just stick a tweeter like this pic.

Maybe cut a black circle and tape it there for a while and see how annoying it is lol.

I kinda lean towards having a good shop install it in case theres a best position / placement.

I kinda want to do it just to do it. And if it looks terrible, one could always buy new plastics. Yolo

But to @Thatbassguy 's point it might be fairly negligible.

    Edit: Google AI says:
While the Audiofrog GS25 can be used as a wideband speaker, meaning it can reproduce a wide range of frequencies, some users find that adding tweeters can enhance the sound, especially for high-frequency reproduction and overall clarity.
    Here's a more detailed explanation:
    • GS25 as a Wideband:
The GS25 is designed to handle a broad range of frequencies, potentially allowing it to function as a wideband speaker, meaning it can reproduce both low and high frequencies.
    • Tweeters for Enhanced High Frequencies:
Tweeters are specifically designed to reproduce high frequencies, which can add clarity, detail, and a sense of space to your music, particularly in the treble range.
    • Subjective Preference:
Whether you need tweeters alongside the GS25 depends on your personal preferences and the type of music you listen to.
    • 3-Way Setup:
Some users find that a 3-way setup with the GS25, a dedicated tweeter, and a woofer provides the best sound quality
