2003 4runner transmission question

    Will the v-6 4x4 trans fit on the 4.7 motor.......is the v-6 and v-8 t case the same?

    Can’t speak for the transmission but the transfer case is different. No 2WD transfer case mode for V8’s.

    what do u mean 2wd.....i have a 2003 4x4 4runner 4.7 v-8 will the v-6 t case be the same?

    My best guess is no, at least the part of the transfer case that attaches it to the transmission because the transmissions are different, the V6 is a 4 speed and the V8 is a 5 speed.

    That being said it's possible the rest of the transfer case is the same but I can't confirm that.

    anywhere on the t case is there a part number to look at and compare?....they look to be the same . I will see today as my buddy gave me a 2004 v-6 transmission . toyota dealer parts room guys have no clue.

    My comment was based on what the dealer's website says about the "adapter casing" that bolts to the transmission, that it's a different part number for the 2 engines, it could be only minor differences and may work or not.

    4X4 V6’s can shift into 2H, 4H, 4L. 4x4 V8’s are 4H, 4L only.

    V8 4WD 4Runners are really nose-heavy. Toyota was wise to make V8s permanently AWD/4WD as an open-diff 2WD selection wouldn't be of much use with the extra V8 torque.
