Hi, we have a 2014 4-Runner Limited and purchased the latest iteration of the OEM Audio Plus Dual Sub JBL enhancement package. I reached out yesterday for help with connections but took it to an audio store for them to address. I finished up the rest this morning and turned it on but nothing! The amplifier is not turning on. The wire is getting power from the battery but something is keeping the amp from powering up.

OEM audio plus is beyond worthless trying to get help from. Has anyone else experienced an amp not powering up and how was it fixed? I so regret buying their product.

What part are you having problem with? Their plugs may change for their components as they update but the plugs to the vehicle have to remain the same. I added the 2nd sub to mine down the road but ran into an issue with their harness. The owner came out to diagnose and figured out they changed wiring since my sub had some out and he fixed it on the spot.

To start, I'm not entirely sure about install on the JBL since I had the base radio. I don't know if they bypass the factory amp to power everything from their own.

They're dual voice coil subs so there would be 8 leads (4 per sub). It sounds like the 12 inch harness goes to the 2nd sub.

There is a main plug that contains all the power and speaker connections to their factory headunit. It's simply a T harness that plugs into the factory wiring and headunit.

If those are long enough they may be the power source that needs to go through the firewall to the battery.

My kit showed up this afternoon. Will respond back to this thread when I get a chance to install it. Same kit as yours.

Thanks, Cisco Kid! I edited my post as I got everything connected with the help of an audio ship but my OEM Plus amp will not power up. I hope you have better luck!

Mine didn’t output anything when I first got it. They uploaded some new firmware and it worked fine after that.

    Check the fuse.

Alright, stupid question. Where is the new amp supposed to go? The install video shows it being mounted to the backside of the factory amp on the supplied bracket. That’s not going to work if you are still using the OEM sub enclosure. WTF am I missing here.

For the filters that go on the factory 6x9’s in the front doors, it appears you have to pull the door panels to install those, correct?

Not doing the install yet, just trying to figure out where things go compared to the video.

The video is of little use. The new amp goes under the front seat although the bracket they attach to the amp will not work if you have seat warmers as there are fans underneath. I am in the process of fabricating something new. I finally got my system to work but had to take it to a local audio shop. It turned out that in addition the them not providing wire cover for the line going out to the battery, they also never provided the blue remote power wire. The local shop obviously had one and he connected one side to the amp, and then the other side he ran through the harness and connected it to the old cigarette lighter or DC outlet that's next to the factory subwoofer. He also said that the ground wire using the screw provided through the metal hole under the front seat is insufficient. He instead ran to the metal under the passenger seat door panel, scraping away the paint, and using a smaller screw to make contact with "clean" metal. Let me know if you run into other challenges.

After contacting OA+, they referred me to the full system replacement video to see how the amp mount works. Looks pretty easy but good to know there may be some clearance issues with the fan. I’m seriously considering running my own RCA’s to the amp as my Kenwood head unit has 5 volt outputs. Will probably run my own remote turn on wire from the head unit as well to avoid any issues with that.

IMG_4782.jpg IMG_4778.jpg So, it’s been about a week since I got this system installed. In an effort to make sure I got the best result possible, I did run a remote turn on wire and my own RCA’s from my Kenwood head unit. One thing I noticed right away is the filters they provide for the 6x9’s in the front doors cut out too much low end and it leaves a gap between mids/highs and the sub. Today I pulled the filters off and used the built in crossover in my Kenwood and got much better results.
As far as under seat clearance on the amp, this was a non issue. Lots of room between the amp and seat. Right now I am waiting on OA+ to get the JBL sub enclosure done and returned.
