I use the A119 Viofo with the power adapter to get power from the rear view mirrors. Works great. Clean and simple install. I'd like to add a rear cam at some point but it's not high on my priority list.

Any chance you can link the adaptor you personally used? I've seen people link a few different ones in other posts.

    Oooh look, another mod.....

You need a "Dongle Adapter". Put that in the search field when you're on Amazon, but specify your Make/Model/Year, because they are not all the same.

Just be advised that with the mirror power adapter you will lose the features on whatever dash cam you get for parking mode.
I personally have my 4runner hardwired to the fuse box, but our Lexus is powered by the mirror and it's running the front and rear cameras just fine.

I run a duel system. Blackvue and a new Viofo Mini 2. The Vifo i got on sale for $99, and though its missing some of the far better features of the $300 Blackvue (like GPS parking mode) its a great little unit that's easy to use and download from.

Does this work with whatever the little sensor thing is in the windshield behind the mirror? I think it's lane departure or something. I saw they have a front and rear kit now so I wonder how easy the rear is to install.

Awesome! It's super tempting to replace my Mini 2 with this. Especially since Amazon has "used" ones for $100 right now.

Well, I ordered the Fitcamx off Amazon new. Should arrive tomorrow and I'll take the Garmin Mini 2 down to replace it.

Just took this pis where I'm glad to see a clear confirmation (the red recording indicator) that dashcam is working.

Yup. You 2019's and below aren't worthy of the FitCamX! I think it's because ya'll don't have the home link capable rear view mirror?

I could be wrong. I'm not. But, I couuuuld be.

I installed a 4X Fitcamx on the front. So far, the only good thing about it is that it's not taking up windshield space. Apparently the only instruction in hooking this thing up comes from you tube videos. My disappointment started after hooking up the wiring and trying to get the cover on with all the wires inside it. I'm usually good putting stuff together, but for some reason I had a hard time. I even tried putting the fitcamx cover on with the wiring disconnected and removed, and for some reason it didn't want to slide on. Maybe a manufacturing issue on this one unit or just a bad day.

I finally got the cover on, and it worked. Then I had to deal with the poor instructions to get the wifi connected which is apparently necessary if you want to program the device.

Then I drove around. The sharpness of the video is poor compared to the Redtiger cam I have been using. The recording gives date and time but no other information like driving speed. On a two lane road doing the speed limit it appeared I was taking up the whole road and was going faster for some reason. When I passed a pedestrian on the road and drove to the other lane to give her clearance, the video made it look like I gave her no clearance at all for some reason. That wouldn't look good in court.

Then there is "customer service" or lack thereof when I tried to find out what the red lights mean on the display. No luck. Maybe someone here knows.

Since I spent some money and frustration on it, I guess I will keep it for now and get it on the highway. Maybe I will just get used to it after the very nice videos I got from the Redtiger.

    YMMV

For what it's worth I had a similar issue regarding the wifi connection but it's in the manual and gives the password to you. Just in case anyone else couldn't find it. I also had an issue with my install but emailed support@fitcamx.com and received a response within about 30 minutes to get everything resolved. I would try reaching out to that email if you haven't already.

Yes, that's the email link I used to get info about the red lights. I just tried it again and got an answer. Maybe it was a time zone issue the first time in which case there should have been a notice that they would get back to me when their work day started instead of giving me a bunch of nonsense. And of course the answer should have been in the 'manual"

You are also correct about the wifi connection instructions. I just had to read them very carefully, experiment a little, and wait for my iPhone to recognize the fitcamx.

To be fair, I didn't read the instructions at all until I was screaming at the app because it wouldn't connect. I could've saved myself a lot of headache haha

I also just installed the Dongar adapter in our 23 TRD Pro.
    https://dongar.tech/products/10pin-type-b-lexus-toyota

Real easy to install, I don't have any need for video recording while the car isn't running or parked unattended.

Used a Garmin Mini 3. I have 4 Mini 3's and 1 Mini 2 (yes we have 5 cars lol). I actually like the Mini 2 better, it has a little better voice commands.
Overall, I really like them, cheap and small, durable, sharp images, polarized lens, and doesn't record GPS speed data... that's called evidence in an accident if you need to produce video to insurance.... so GPS is a deal breaker for me, no thanks!!

I also have a Valentine V1 Gen2 using a blendmount, that's powered from a hard line from the driver floorboard fuse block. I tried to split that into 2 usb c feeds via a USB C Y cable from anker, but apparently the radar detector and camera booting up at same time just made both mad, sometimes they would both boot just fine, sometimes one or the other would boot, or the radar detector would get stuck in a bootup loop. Oh well, that's what I get for trying to take a shortcut.

So now both are happy, one is hard lined from the fuse block, and the other being fed from the dongar tech adaptor.

2 Part answer: A) I bought a RedTiger 4k camera recently to mount in my Minnie Winnie 22R (RV) for a 3,200 miles RV trip. I'm a nontechie "Geezer" at 72 years old. The most I could figure out is to power up the unit, insert the micro SD card and mount it on my windshield. It's recording because I pulled the SD card and checked for photos. Getting it to work on my iPhone? Forget it!
    B) I looked into a dash cam for my 2024 4Runner, I believe Toyota makes a dash cam unit that fits into the housing with the rear view mirror. I found a like type dash cam on Amazon. I'm still under warranty
so I didn't want to monkey around with installing an aftermarket unit and void my warranty somehow.
