With the exception of the Glove Box light which I hear may not be worth the effort, I have replaced all of my "yellowish" incandescent bulbs in my 2024 with Diode Dynamics "cool white (6000k)" version (All Interior (except Glove Box), Puddle Lights, License Plate Lights, and Reverse Lights).

Just recently, I did the LED DRL mod with the Diode Dynamics lights as well (cool white, 6000k). Please see thread (https://www.4runners.com/threads/my-2022-t4r.25781/)

Eventually, I plan to replace the Foglights with a Diode Dynamics Light foglight, but I'm still deciding which one I want to go with (thinking Yellow/Amber).

Although a little pricier, I have been happy with the quality of the Diode Dynamics bulbs and the 3-year warranty is hard to beat. In the past, I have used Super Bright LEDs and the products were inferior in comparison. Since our 2024 is brand new, I wanted to go with a better quality light and glad I did.

Right now, I'm looking at replacing the incandescent Amber bulbs (Front, Rear, and Side-Mirror turn?) with LEDs. I like the idea of going with Switchback because it will give my truck a more unique appearance. I'm trying my best to walk the line with not too much, but I also want my truck to not blend in on the road with all the other 4runners that are primarily stock.

For anyone who has changed their turn signals to LED, which brand did you go with? Any regrets compared to sticking with the stock incandescent bulb?

I like that the Lasfit version has a resistor built-in to prevent hyper flashing, but I do have concerns about their quality compared to Diode Dynamics as I have read some reviews of them burning out within a year. Also, they only have a 1-year warranty vs 3-year with Diode Dynamics. Diode Dynamics on the other hand appears to require a separate resistor to make theirs work.

I am concerned about brightness as I don't want to have obnoxiously bright lights. I was a little worried about the LED DRL mod I did, but I find they aren't really that bad as the bulbs has lower Lumens that a traditional 9005 halogen bulb.

I notice that incandescent turn signals have a gradual "pulse" look vs the "instant on" look that LEDs have. On this note, why don't people change their incandescentbrake bulbs with LED? I'm not sure if there are any other noticeable differences other than brightness and slight color. With this being said, changing all of my "yellowish" incandescent bulbs to the cool white LED was a HUGE difference!

To help enhanced my lighting even more, any other light upgrades worth looking at? I decided against the "Tail as a Turn" mod as I prefer the amber turn signals. I also decided against Raptor Lights (not for me ;))

I appreciate anyone share their experience with Turn Signal LEDs, switchbacks, and any other lighting mods you have done to your 4runner.

    Oooh look, another mod.....

I have switch backs from LasFit. It took me a few times to order the right ones, but once I did, they worked perfectly. I did not need an external resistor. The ones I bought have them built in.

Thanks for the pics. These look good. How long ago did you put them in?

Did you replace your rears and side mirror ambers with leds as well?

I only installed turn signals for the front.. It took me about 20 minutes to do it. The hard part is pulling back the splash guard and sticking your hand up there to unplug and remount the new bulb. You're going in blind.

I did not do the mirrors, because they were bright enough already and I did not do the rears, because I swapped the entire tail lights out with better looking after market's.

I appreciate you sharing your experience and I gave it some thought over the past week. I thought long and hard on this between the Lasfit T3's and Diode Dynamics (switchback for front and standard for rear) and decided to stick with Diode Dynamics for consistency since all of my other lights are Diode Dynamics and I want the white in the switchback to match the DRL perfectly. I also plan on purchasing SS3 Fog Lights (not sure between Sport, Pro, or Max, but leaning toward Pro).

Diode Dynamics is running a 15% off "Tax Refund Sale" on LED bulbs and this also helped make the decision.

I do realize that going with the Diode Dynamics LEDs will require me to add Resistors (also bought from Diode Dynamics) and I am up for the challenge. I plan on purchasing some 7443/7440 pigtail extensions for splicing the resistors into so I won't modify the stock wiring (this idea gave me the final push) - This will also make the install a little easier (we will see!)

I haven't opened up things to double-check, but I am now believing that the Brake/Tail Lights and side mirror turn signals are LED as OEM - Please correct me if I'm wrong. With this being said, after this turn signal mod my only remaining incandescent light will be the glove box and that is fine with me.

After turn signal mod is installed. I will hopefully decide on the SS3 fog and I'm even considering a light bar.... The Mod Bug has bitten! To be continued...

I too have a number of Diode Dynamics LED bulbs in my 2021 T4R and am very happy with them. I also have the SS3 Max Selective Yellow fogs, SS5 Pro Spots as well as a number of interior lights. I tried Lasfit bulbs in the directionals and as nice as they seem, they don't live up to the hype in my opinion. First, if you leave them on for any length of time, they transition into hyperflash. Second, two them only lasted about a year.

So, what did I replace them with? Surprisingly, not DD. I went with VLEDs V6 Triton Extremes. The regular V6 Tritons would be enough for almost anybody, but I wanted more warning power with my 4 ways. I had them in my 20114 Tacoma and I sold them with the truck after 4 years. The ones in my T4R are still going strong after 3 years.

I've gone down the rabbit hole of deciding between Sport, Pro, and Max. Although I'm a big fan of white lights on my truck, I'm leaning toward yellow in the Pro version... I am tempted to go with the Max, but have concerns about how bright they actually may be on the road and aimed down. I definitely see the value in these on dark highway roads during roadtrips which I know I will be going on. Still deciding...

Also, I see that the Max has the capability to melt snow. I do have PPF on my front bumper/grill and not sure if that will cause issues with the heat (still researching).

I started with the SS3 Selective Yellow Pro fogs, but them moved up to the Max - also in Selective Yellow. Although the Max is more powerful, the beam pattern is also tighter and more well defined from top to bottom. The less well-defined pattern in the Pros is pretty impressive, but tended to piss off more oncoming drivers - even when properly aimed - in my experience. If you don't aim the Pros properly, you will definitely be hearing from oncoming drivers.

I installed a set of those exact Lasfit bulbs in the rear directionals on my daily driver 2006 Scion xB just under a year ago. Unfortunately, the passenger side one bought the farm last night. How I discovered it was weird. I was driving home after dark, and you can clearly see the reflection of the turn signals on the ground behind the car when they're on. I noticed that there was no reflection on the passenger side. Oddly enough, there was no hyperflash to indicate a burned out bulb either. I stopped in a parking lot and put the four ways on. The passenger side just barely illuminates. Time to check out the warranty process.

I've had mine for just over a year now, and no issues (knock on wood). I tried the Diode's and another type of the LasFit, they all hyper flashed on me. I wrote a thread about my back-and-forth experience about it.

Agreed. The only ones that seem to work, not hyper flash and last a decent amount of time for me are the VLEDs V6 Tritons.

Brake/tail and side mirrors are LED. Look up LivTee 7440 on Amazon. I bought some Lasfit 7440 years ago for another vehicle’s rear turn signals. Stumbled upon the LivTee’s when I was trying to source some Lasfit bulbs in 2020. They were half the price and came in identical packaging and looked identical to the Lasfit’s at the time. 5 years later and they are still going strong.

Definitely looks better than the clear factory ones. How's the fitment (any little gaps up close) and brightness of the components compare to stock? Source?
    Thanks

They fit great. There is a gap, but it's a small uniform gap all the way around. The stock tail lights had the same gap, so I'm fine with it. They are nice and bright (brighter than stock, but not by a lot - because the stock ones are also LED). I like how they blend in with the body color of the truck. The stock were clear & chrome.
