I do my own oil changes as per the wisdom on this site. When I do, I enter the oil change into the vehicle. Can I bring up this data to display my maintenance history? I've searched this site and You Tube and the Owners Manual but can find nothing. Does entering oil change data just turn off the oil change warning?

    Thanks
    Dennis

    Oooh look, another mod.....

No, manually entering the data does not turn off the oil change warning. It gets changed manually by you (or a tech at the local dealership). Here's how:

Yup. I've been doing that. I'm hoping to bring up the dates of my tire rotations, oil changes, etc. I had my local shop rotate my tires and the mechanic said I had them rotated 2,000 miles ago. I assumed (I know, I know...) he saw that data when he entered the rotation. This would be useful info to show a future buyer. I'm having a hard time articulating what I'm looking for into words. I'll never get an oil change light, I'm a 5,000 mile oil change guy.

    Thanks,
    Dennis

Do you mean you want all the maintenances you performed to show up on things like a Carfax report? So future buyers can see that it’s regularly maintained?

You can't directly make your personal car maintenance records show up on a Carfax report, as Carfax primarily relies on data reported by participating shops and dealerships. However, you can use the MyCarfax app to log your own maintenance records for personal record-keeping. Any records you add to MyCarfax won't appear on a standard Carfax vehicle history report.

Not Carfax. When my mechanic told me how long it had been since I last rotated my tires I thought he saw that data on my vehicle ( little screen between the tach and speedo? )when he entered the new tire rotation. I was hoping to check on my maintenance dates because I have procrastinated on putting the info in my log book and want to confirm dates. Maybe the mechanic got the his info from the shops computer. It's starting to sound like no such function exists.

Since I have all of my maintenance (till my service contract runs out) done at the dealership I keep copies of all work orders.

I also make entries in my phone’s calendar beginning with “Vehicle - “ with subtitles such as
    Oil Change <mileage>
Tire <mileage> suffix with either rot (rotation) or NP (new purchase)
    Air Filter…
    Etc.
Sometimes I attach a photo of the work done.

All I need do is type in “vehicle” in the calendar’s search query and everything pops up sorted by date.
