Apple Car Play Turn by Turn Directions

I am using Apple Car Play for map guidance in my 4Runner and occasionally discover new features. What I am looking for, but can't find, is a way to display the turn-by-turn directions from Apple Maps on my 4Runner screen. Does anyone know how?

 

To display turn-by-turn directions in Apple Maps, open the Maps app, search for your destination, tap "Directions," choose a travel mode (driving, walking, etc.), and then tap "Go" for your chosen route to begin navigation.

 

Infotainment or in the dash cluster?

 

I was thinking of the screen in the middle of the dash board. Where I see the radio info, Toyota Navigation, CarPlay map etc. I can see a lot of apps from my iPhone, including the Apple Map, but not the whole list of directions that I can see on my phone.

 

Got it, I do not believe you can view a list of all the turns that you will make via CarPlay via Apple Maps.

(given the nature of software and how it can be changed in future iterations, I will say this is current as of posting. I can't speak for Google Maps or others like HERE Maps from memory however)

Hitting the route overview button in the top right when navigating in Apple Maps can give you a birds-eye view of the entire route if that helps. (Hitting it again reverts you to the usual view)
