I’ve been looking into getting a lift and some bigger tires for my 5th GEN 4Runner. I was wondering what are the best combinations. I was reading on here that leveling kits aren’t the way to go and it’s better to upgrade the suspension itself. I’m also wondering what would be a good option so it’s still has good road manners since it’s a daily driver. I’m going to be moving to Arizona where I’ll be taking it off road but I’m not planning on doing anything too crazy, Mostly over landing on off-road trails.

So it'll depend a lot on the usage really. For me, I spend 98% of my time on-road and the off-road time I do get is mostly dirt trails and the occasional passes up near Silverton. I went with an Eibach Stage 1 and 255/80/17's. Couldn't be happier. For what it's worth, it sounds like you likely don't need anything overly expensive so the build shouldn't break the bank.

Why? For what you're describing, you don't need to do anything. Also, you've got a basically brand new rig with the TRD ORP package. Silly to waste time, money, and possible void of any warranty you might have. If anything, get some more aggressive tires and call it a day.

I would get some BFGoodrich All-Terrain KO3 tires and calling it a day.

If you really like the "look", I'd buy Bilstein 5100 shocks and springs.

welcome to AZ. Tons of places to explore. Lift and quality tires recommended. What specifically is needed is debatable but buy quality. Talk to some shops that deal with these builds regularly. Westcott has some real good recommendations. SDHQ has experience with 4Runners also.

I’ve ran Bilstein 6120 w UCAs and Toyos for years. Been solid although had to get a heavier rated spring for rear.

Ran into some guys w issues on some brands under heavy abuse out here. Do some research. Don’t wanna get stranded in the hot sun

I've ran C load BFG's in the AZ desert and backcountry for over 40 years. Never had a flat. Doesn't mean you won't but I've had good luck with them. I did run Hankook MT-03 on my FJ for a few years. They worked great in AZ, too. Post up some pics after you get the parts on!
