Old thread sorry, but what divider to you have to keep puppy from coming into front seat?

 

In this pic you can see how the "hammock" attaches to the front seat headrests and blocks the middle portion, between the seats, where the dog could normally go through. Their heads can still poke over, but they have yet to try to climb over.

 

Are they loose back there or harnessed and tethered?

 

The dogs made a mess in the back of my previous vehicle (Highlander) so I went with headrest protectors on the rear seat from Canvasback and a Paw Jamboree cargo liner with side flaps for the cargo area. The suction cups stick nicely to the side windows. The back flap tucks under the matts and is dropped down over the bumper (lower pic) when loading and unloading. The Highlander bumper ledge was clawed up badly but no problems on the 4Runner after close to a year. I use a couple dog matts with a rubber bottom (top pic) to reduce sliding and absorb moisture (i.e., washable). The Paw Jamboree liner wipes clean and should eliminate or at least significantly reduce dog odour. So far so good and we encounter lots of water, dirt and mud.

 

Just keep the remote out of reach.

Only downsides are (1) the wrinkles from how it came packaged, which I may try to smooth out with heat someday and (2) its a little tougher to put the seats back up, which may be more my fault for stretching them out as much as possible and using too much double sided velcro to keep everything flat.

Very minor downsides versus how easy it is to clean up the snow, salt, beach sand, etc the dog leaves behind.

 

Did you look at any other kennels before getting the Ruffland?

 

Not really. Most of the higher quality kennels here in Canada are really expensive.

 

My current doggo set up, helps keep the pups from falling forward into the gap.
