Sliders that are "Wife Approved"

I have C4 with the "solid" top plating but that still has bit holes.

If you can find sliders with a completely solid top because if your wife wears heels they will eventually get stuck in those holes and she might have a really bad time.

This is especially bad if she seldom wears heels so she never gets a chance to get used to it.

 

In the days of shuttling the 3 kids around, she drove a 4th gen 4runner then a Tahoe. Once the kids started driving, she went back to a sedan as it is easier to navigate and gets way better gas mileage.

 

Look great. Are they as wide as they look in the pictures?

 

I'd say heels are about 50% of the time and as a former professional ballerina the definition of heels are 4" to 5" - everything else is a "flat". Given, for our outdoor adventures, it's not heels but we use the 4Runner for just about every joint outing.

You are right. One stuck heel could be a disaster.

She is telling me to get whatever I want now so that opens the options. Either way I think I'll 3D print fillers, or have solid panels cut for the top plate depending on what I get.

 

My RSG Sliders have the serrated cutouts, so no slipping. But…. Not very barefoot friendly.

 

The Slee sliders have been on my radar for a while. They seem to be up to par with the tube sliders but have a more factory look and a flat step.

The only catch with those, if you haven't ever had sliders before, is that they do work great as a step as they stick out so far. The downside is, your leg/pants rub on them as you exit the vehicle. Even with my RCI sliders, I sometimes rub if I don't think to exit a bit further out the door.

 

When you compare the cost of powder coating versus the time you spent, that alone probably makes a difference.

 

Could be useful for removing calluses.

 

This was one of the many battles I had with my Silverado. They were just steps but I think I had dirt on the back of my pant leg constantly.

 

I eventually just adapted to step out onto the steps/nerf bars with my left foot heel and step onto the ground with the right one. Where I live there is a lot of road kill and the underside of steps accumulate some nasty stuff from the tire spray.

 

Absolutely. You think, oh spray painting something isn't bad. But if you want to take the time to do it right, there's a lot of prep first, then a bunch of layers of primer, then a bunch of layers of paint. Not only did it take me a full weekend, I had to wait for a weekend where the weather would cooperate. The sliders sat for probably 4 or 5 months before I finally got to it.

Toward the end I actually got an estimate from a local shop that could powder coat something that big, it was almost what I paid for the sliders themselves.

 

They are pretty wide and make for a good platform to stand on.

 

Missed out on the RCI BF sale… paid 732.. shipping n tax incl I only spent $45 bucks on cleaning and paint supplies and I don’t regret it…

Your sliders made the top of my list. Only a plus that you are in Texas! For anyone looking for sliders, yours are a fantastic choice!

However, my concern was that my wife wears heels a lot. Since we use this vehicle as our run around vehicle, I didn't want to risk her tripping when her heel goes into one of the holes. Even if she doesn't trip, a few pairs of ruined heels makes up for the cost difference in any slider.

I reached out to a few companies and one was willing to make me a custom solid top plate. I jumped on the offer. I promised not to say who that was until they get built and delivered to me.

I wanted to follow up on the sliders that I ended up getting. After reaching out to several companies, one was willing to do custom solid top plates for me - Greenlane Offroad.

I spoke to Kyle at Greenlane and he expressed his excitement to build a set of their aluminum sliders with solid top plates. I went with the non-kickout version. He didn't charge me any extra (Price was really good) and his communication throughout the build and shipment process was wonderful!

Sliders are absolutely perfect. Beautiful welds, even on the parts you dont see.

My wife loves the solid top plate and has told me how much she likes how sturdy they feel compared to the previous Predator steps I had on the vehicle.

I think you may have been very fortunate to get those sliders when you did. I get the feeling no one in the U.S. is going to be able to afford products from Canada for the foreseeable future. And vice versa.

 

Funny thing is, that even with a 25% tariff, they would still be in line with some of the other options. If someone was interested, I'd get a quote from them before assuming they are priced too high.
