2025 4Runner 6th Gen Just Landed at US Ports ⚓️ [First Look Photos]

I made one of them functional, to blow down on the TRD S/C on my tacoma.
I live in the DEEP south, the only weather we worry about is humidity and tornados. Not living in the ice and snow belt makes full time 4wd something that we just dont really need.

If i see a hill that needs climbing and the LSD rear diff wont get me up it, i have 4wd. I always buy 4wd stuff, and in the past 20 years the ONLY time i have needed 4wd was to pull someone out of a ditch (probably 2014'ish). Shouldnt have done it cause it bent my trailer hitch from yanking sideways with a snatch rope. So..... I dont really need full time AWD or 4WD but i can understand its benefits for someone who lives in Maine or Michigan, but that just aint me. If you need it, rock and roll. If you hate the hood scoops, more power to'ya. I have vehicles that appeal to me visually and are functional for what i need and that have amenities that help me enjoy my drive. You are more than welcome to like and dislike whatever floats your boat.

Got the money, time here on earth is not guaranteed. I plan to enjoy what I can while I can.

then you should get the GX550 instead. Better in every way if you got the extra 10-20k.

 

That’s what I said. Even the cheapest GX, the $65K premium model is speced nicer than the top 4Runner. Plus you get a V6, which hopefully won’t have a bearing failure.

 

Yeah, makes zero sense to pay 61k + T&L for a mid trim 4 cylinder gas only 4Runner when the GX exists.

Some reviewers are right, the new Land Cruiser is the GX.

man i am glad my dealer is going to sell me my 4R plat just under 61k

the 4R limited rims only come in 20in and have a very unique look to them, hence it really doesnt look right on a taco.

i know cause i have a 4R limited and you will be surprised how many domestics copied that look for other full size vehicles. a co worker has a gmc at4 and it has the same type of look to its rims

 

well i have a unique case as the nearest authorized dealer is 550 miles away. i am not running that far to get any warranty work done on any lexus. too much of a pita. and yes i did call lexus finanacial and talked with them, no way around it.

and as far as the LC250, its nice looking but meh in my eyes. reminds me too much of the FJ cruiser and i really didnt care for that vehicle either.

just my preference on looks.

 

I don't think new 4Runner is a good value. With that said, I don't think criticizing Toyota based on MSRP while ignoring inflation is reasonable.

6th Gen 4Runner costs more than 5th Gen because $1 USD in 2019 is equivalent to $1.23 in 2025 and that is just official figures that do not take supply chain issues and shortages into account.

 

Increasing the cost by $10K+ in one model year is a lot more than just inflation.

And that’s before you even arrive at the dealer and discover the previously standard basic features that Toyota deleted. Like homelink, or a steel front skid plate…

Not speaking to those who believe that a $60-70k 4Runner is remotely reasonable, but to all the rest of us….we can be fans of this redesign and not fall into to the crazy price trap like early Gen4 Tacoma owners did. Just like Taco, you should not buy one of these until there are discounts.

lol i did a mock up of the rear w/o the 4Runner emblem, this is what mine will look like when it comes in

not in heritage blue, but i cant find a decent pic of one to mock up.

and yes i will be having the dealer remove the 4Runner emblem.

Within 1 hour of owning one is debadge + air dam removal for me.

 

Let's say inflation is 23% since 2019. A 25 4Runner ORP starts at 55k. In 2019 the ORP started at 40k. That's a 37.5% increase.

OR and SR5 saw slightly lower increase % but they also saw de-contenting like removal of power seats and such. The SR5 doesn't even come with a spare tire anymore.

 

Unfortunately there are too many people that have to have the newest thing and are willing to pay these ridiculous and add ons. If people just had some restraint and didn’t buy for a bit these dealers would stop this BS.

 

We are on a site where many people are now financing 50-75k 4x4s that are supposed to last 20 years to commute with and trading them in every few years for the newest model, so restraint is probably a dirty word to a lot of people.

 

In all of the promo pics and videos they looked like rugged off road vehicles, these look like soccer mom suv's.
