Anyone else digging out in the mid-west?

It will come as a shock to some that people actually live in "fly over country". Currently in my Kansas location there's about twelve inches of snow and climbing (not expected to stop until midnight some say). Snow started around 0300 this morning after a day of freezing rain, fortunately the weather hit on the weekend. It would probably be labeled "The Storm of the Century" if it hit one of the coastal cities. Time for another cup of coffee and another log on the fire as i watch all the digging i just done, get filled in. Oh, well.

 

I hope we get significant amount tomorrow! Want to plow W/new ATV!!!

 

Kind of kicking myself for not buying one. Wasn't planning on being here this long and already have to much crap. It's a real PITA moving every three years.

 

I'm scheduled to go to MCI 21-24 Jan for work. Co-worker is scheduled out there tomorrow. She'll have to dig out Co.car!!

 

Have a 28" 9hp 2 stage snowthrower in shed I only use IF the snow is so deep the the push tubes for the plow hold the wheels up from gnd contact to get up to drive way & if the plow has too much @ end of driveway to open it up & I can the chip away W/plow.

 

Kansas City resident here! Trying to time our shoveling the driveway window to coincide with beating the snow plows so I can go test out my new, literally day old Wildpeaks!

 

Roads look like a slip and slide out by you according to the news vids. How much ice you get last night? I dug out in front of the garage, going to see about the rest of the 200' drive way... Later.

 

Enough for them to eventually shut down every major highway. Probably not more than a 1/4" by me but it was ridiculous out there. People just not heeding the warnings. Snow I can handle. Iced over highways? Nah I'll just wait that out!

 

Here in South CEntral Nebraska we had freezing drizzle yesterday about 2pm.....turned over to snow about 5pm......been snowing/blowing since and is s'pose to stop mid-afternoon. Difficult to tell how much snow we've got since it's in drifts. Gonna start the snowblower in a couple hours I guess!

 

This is your fault!!!! I'm going to need you to trailer that thing to Northern KY to clear my driveway off tomorrow morning.. mmmmk?

Kansas Citian here and I just drove my mostly stock Limited (removed dead XREAS for SR5 suspension, no lift, stock highway tires on ORP 17s) around for fun on the quiet suburb streets near me. Drove lots through unplowed sections, plenty of deeper banks, and it was all fun without even a hint of difficulty! All the more confirmation how much I love my 4R. Had to take a fun pic.

 

Where's the snow? I'm digging out drifts up to my waist. Lol.

 

Yeah I’m thinking we’ve got less here than elsewhere. And that pic is in a park parking lot and it’s completely tree covered. I was driving through some drifts that completely covered the front tires, it was a blast!

 

You poor poor people. Buffalo measures snow in feet. In northern MI we’ve had several 12 inch storms and one 20 inch storm, 15 miles from me they got 32 inches. My area has had over 80 inches of snow this year. I plow with a diesel tractor. I get it your not used to it, but it’s a yawner for a lot of us.

I think it's fun, not as fun as a snow flurry in Mississippi, but fun all the same.

What, 75 is shorts and tee-shirt. Putting on a jacket in 75 degree weather, would cause me to sweat like a whore in church.

 

It's a big deal nowadays since it doesn't snow very often anymore

 

East coast is snowing!

 

Got 6-8 inches here in KY. Hoping to use my older neighbors snowblower today or tomorrow. Hearing the crack of iced over tree branches falling is a new sound for me. My neighbor has a pile of them from after the ice storm last night.

 

Same here near Cincinnati. Still coming down pretty hard right now. I'm glad I shoveled off the driveway yesterday to give me a bit of a break.

My dog, otoh, is NOT, and I mean NOT impressed with this. She keeps wanting to go out and noping right back inside again when she see it is still there!

 

Honestly, I have until Friday to enjoy Florida. We’ve been here since October. Heading back to the frozen tundra

 

The whole world almost stops when you get snow or ice in Mississippi.

You'd have to live in the south a while to get acclimated. You'd be surprised at how life is when you are used to 95degree 95% humidity summers, when October rolls around and you get that first cool spell where its 55degrees at night and 70degrees in the day, its "BRISK" and you switch to a light jacket. Again, the humidity is the biggest part of it, 65 degrees, 80% humidity, and a light breeze is quite brisk. Totally different from out west in the desert where 45degree 15% humidity you can walk out in your boxers at daylight and take a leak without feeling very cold at all. The humidity is a massive game changer in how it makes things feel and the south is eat up with humidity. I travel the country for work and very very few people realize what the south is really like due to the humidity.

 

Never could get used to cutting my lawn on Christmas leave.
