Traction control seems more sensitive on my '24 ORP than my '22 ORP

whenever I remember I'll hit the traction control button (turning it off) because we have a ton of gravel roads and a miserable 1/4 mile long steep driveway... what i'm noticing on my '24 (when I forget to turn it off), is that traction control seems much more sensitive in my new 4R vs the old one. It kicks in by limiting throttle frequently to the point of being counter productive and annoying.

the other thing I've noticed is that you can only turn off traction control at low speeds....(maybe under 20mph?) and that it sometimes turns itself back on.

Has anyone else noticed this or am I losing my mind?

We got 8" of snow yesterday and I was out having fun in 2WD with traction control off and it seemed to turn itself back on several times.

 

Pretty standard Toyota traction behavior. It’s never really off and lurks until you get into bad trouble.

 

Could there be a difference in tires? It’ll intervene more if you’re getting more one-wheel-peel/slippage.

I believe after holding it to turn off traction and stability control both, it’ll come back on above 30-ish mph if my often-flawed memory is correct.

For something more permanent you’ll probably have to pull a fuse or something.

 

I believe what you're experiencing is the Vehicle Stability Control. Pressing the button once turns off Traction Control. After turning Traction Control off, wait a second then press and hold the button again for 3-4 seconds and Vehicle Stability Control will also be disabled. To turn VSC off, you do need to be at a complete stop.
