Hoping someone can help me out with this because it's driving me nuts!
My battery light came on about 3 months ago because my alternator was going out. Replaced with a remanufactured Denso, however that didn't turn the battery light off. I replaced the alternator fuse and the wiring harness that plugs into the alternator and had my battery tested (battery is good). Finally, I replaced the new alternator with another remanufactured Denso (there was a 1 year warranty so they sent me a replacement for free). Battery light is still on. I cleaned up the battery terminals, the areas where the ground wires are and checked all fuses. Everything seems fine. The battery voltage when the car is off is around 12.4v and around 14 when running, even with lights and heater blowing. I've been driving it regularly for about 2 weeks now and everything seems normal aside from the bright red battery light illuminated on my instrument panel. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

So it sounds like you've proven it's an issue with the light. I think this is the relevant part of the schematic. Check out the Yellow with Green Stripe wires from the L port on the Alt.

If I read it right, if the wire is grounded, current will flow from C to B across the light (due to the diode symbol). So it may be grounded somewhere from the gauge cluster (what they call combination meter) to the Alternator.

Im having the same issue on my 1996 . With the key in the on position the red/blue wire has 12.53,the white wire has 12.53,the yellow/green wire has 4.43 .I pulled the ign 7.5 fuse and the new reading for the yellow/green wire is 0.2…can you send me the full diagram so I can check the plug behind my cluster ? I believe I found the correct wire but it’s reading 19.4 on the on position ..Thank you

Following eagerly ... I too have a new alternator with a pesky battery light.

9 times out of 10 the light never goes away ... then 1 time will go off just to keep me on my toes.

The previous owner that had the alternator replaced told me the light started staying on right after it was replace. To me this means it's likely not something in the cluster or dash, but rather something under the hood.
