OEM Headlight Comparison

Does anyone know of a video actually showing the differences between the sub-par OEM low beam and one/any of the replacements available out there? Plenty of people/posts/forums stating "this one is great" or "I like these" but there's no "proof" that I can find of one being brighter than another. Even the replacements advertised don't have videos showing if their product is actually brighter/better...just a bunch of words...any help would be appreciated. The OEM low beam on our 2018 4runner might as well not be on they are so dim....(and mechanically they are functioning properly - and we've tried swapping to different bulbs)

I mean here’s my Alpharex. They’re considerably brighter than my OEM halogens. I still have to aim them and I have a problem with the driver side high beam. Ultimately, I think I’m gonna sell these off and go with Morimoto.

It would be an amazing first post if you did the comparison and bought all of them. Just saying….

I think that there is a thread somewhere on this or the other 4Runner forum showing a comparison. Hopefully, I’m not thinking of the one on Tacomaworld.

4runner H11 projector is pretty modest, potency of projector itself isn't great. What bulb you have tried? If quality H9 modified halogen bulb to fit didn't serve you enough, there really isn't any other bulb that can improve optical output.
I am not sure what bubs you have tried, but just remember, Brighter is not equal to being better. You first need to understand what quality of light is actually needed to be considered as better lighting. So for OE halogen projector, H9 swap is best attempt you can make.

If you seek overall higher performance, then you need to look for OE LED assembly or retrofit some quality OE optics.
Or are you talking about replacement aftermarket headlamp assembly?

 

HID work well. My HID have been flawless for 8 years. Very easy to install in existing projector.

I whole heartedly agree... buy them all and get back to us with your findings. That would put an end to the 'doubt' factor after hearing other tests. BTW, welcome from Wisconsin!

I am 62 and I don't understand what is wrong with the factory headlights. My 2019 4R OR's factory lights are a heck of a lot brighter than my 1980 Chevy 1500 were back in the day.

Have you actually checked to see if they're aimed properly?

 

Here is a comparison of leading LED options at the time including OEM Bi-LEDs. After watching it I decided to keep my stock 23 headlights and look into auxiliary high beams instead.

The stock LED from 22 onward is decent on low but meh on high, you can get some takeoffs and a wiring harness that someone on this site sells to convert from halogen to LED.
