I've got a 2001 4runner with 207k miles that is only used for occasional towing and my annual elk hunting trip to Wyoming from Wisconsin. It is running great. I've rebuilt the rear end and trany, got an auxiliary transmission fluid radiator, new OEM radiator, old Man Emo springs/lift, fog/driving/ditch lights for those curvy no guardrail roads in WY, Tundra front disk brakes, methanol injection installed, and the supercharger that's been sitting for like 7 years while life was too busy to put it on. I love my 4runner, but in altitude (6-10k ft) pulling a trailer, it would be nice to have forced induction. All it would take is to find someone who could do it and pay them. I've got a set of Supra fuel injectors I intend to use and, as said before, I put methanol injection on it, and then life got in the way.
Is 207k miles too many? I intend to keep the boost at the lower end. I probably only put 5k Mike's on it a year know. It is not a dd. Thoughts?

How do you find someone to do it?

I mean I added one at 90K miles on my 2010 Tacoma and people think that's too many miles. If the engine is healthy I say go for it.

As I understand the concern about longevity, it's all about preventing early detonation. I intend to keep boost modest and use ethanol and the bigger SUPRA injectors

It's not just about detonation but also about the pressure on the bearings. The Manguson kit has everything needed.

I'll need to research the bearing issue. This the first I've heard about it. How is mitigated, briefly?

I believe you're referring to the bearing in tge nose, is that correct?

Like rod and crank bearings. There’s more stress when you add power. If the engine is healthy then you are good to go.

It ain't the engine that's the issue. It's the transmission. Since he rebuilt his, he's probably OK. The SCs put a bit of a strain on these transmissions and back in the day it was known that they needed beefing up a bit or there was a greater chance you'd get early failures.

Many 4wd launches later, I never had issues.

I hear ya, but as solid as the transmission is for everyone, overall it's still the weakest part of the drive train.

I'm not complaining, mine has been a rock for 22 years and I only just did a transmission flush 2 years ago and there was not anything but a little dust in the pan when I dropped it.
