Replaced blinkers with LEDs - now they're blinking double speed

One of my blinker lights went out, so I decided to replace them with LEDs. When a blinker light goes out, the blinker noise/clicking/blinker speed increases x2. Basically, it begins to blink faster to tell you that it doesn't work anymore, so you replace it.

After replacing both of them with LEDs, both of them now blink at that faster speed. I was wondering if there was a cheat code or something I could do to reset the blinker speed back to normal.

 

Check the lighting forum.
I just installed the Lasfit T3 series bulbs in the front and rear positions. No hyper flash like you're having.

 

Cheap bulbs without the proper circuitry. LED bulbs pull much less power vs a led, The relay is thinking that a bulb is burnt out and they do a “hyper flash” to let you know something is wrong.


You can swap to a nicer bulb or monkey with some in line changes on the wiring to fix it. Get the better bulbs that way your not adding extra stuff or cutting wires to solve the issues

 

You need a separate resistor or bulb with a resistor built in.

 

…or just get a replacement bulb and revert back to original.

 

Easiest and cheapest is to go back to incandescent bulbs. Nothing wrong with them.

 

Try cruise control on, cruise control off, hit the brake 3 times, turn the steering wheel left, turn the steering wheel right, honk the horn 6 times. All within ten seconds. It might require a couple of tries to get it right. Please post a video for others to use.

 

I replaced my blinkers, but the first two times I chose the wrong type. So I had hyper flashing. That's what you have. I finally found the correct ones and they work perfect now. I didn't need to install a resistor.

I bought the switch backs.

 

For me I want brighter so people can see since everyone is posting on social media or messing with their infotainment while driving instead of driving.

 

I get you, but I’ve not been in an accident where turn signal brightness came into play.

 

Be careful with adding a resistor to fix it. Care care nut has a video about a Tacoma that tried that. Cost the owner $$$. It’s Worth a watch on YouTube.

..yeah...a thousand amps at 120 volts...if he was accurate. That sounds insane. I guess he did say it dropped the volts down to 73 or something.
