    Hey!

    Intro here...

This is the urban assault vehicle, also known as the HoRunner, GG, and Fiona. (Fiona is my wife's pick, it is her daily, so I thought I'd add it. This also lends to the name HoRunner.)

Anyway, nothing crazy going on with this one just yet. My flogger is a 2001 Toyota Tacoma OR, 5100 lift with Eibach springs. Procomp 7069 matte black wheels...blah blah blah.

So back to the HoRunner. 2001 Sport, 4x4. Pretty simple. All stock except for the head unit.

Located in East Central Indiana, obviously an Alabama fan.

Alright well, with the Taco getting less and less love, and the Horunner starting to need some love I've decided to start modding the Horunner.

Plans: The design and direction of this truck will be for mostly on road use, with poor weather being the main battle. In the beginning I will be replacing parts that are wearing like the suspension, bushings, body mounts and such.

Suspension: Probably go with OME, although I like the Icon stuff, I haven't researched enough if the 4runners have the same CV axle issues that the tacoma's do when you lift them. I know I dont want to mess with that. Probably do UCA's, and some bumps as well.

@ramonortiz55 are you replacing CV's due to boot destruction often?

Wheels and Tires: Going to go with a 17 or 18 inch wheel. (I know...most of the offroaders hate the larger wheels.) Since this wont venture offroad unless it absolutely HAS to, I'm going to go with a larger wheel fo' stance bruh.

Lighting: Retrofit on the headlights, but I'd like to find some glass lenses (stock) instead of plastic. Any suggestions here are appreciated.

Exterior Accessories: Roof rack, and possibly some aluminum bumpers. Low profile, plate style probably color matched.

I'm just here cuz i saw ROLL TIDE on the header, and wanted to say "right on" as Alabama made me 850 bucks over the weekend, and kept me positive, money wise all weekend, with that shut out win at LSU. Im not a crimson supporter, but I do like money :)

    Woot!

    Carry on ;)

Which ones did you order? Factory replacements or the ones that are made for modified vehicles and offroad use?

Now that spring is around the corner, I will start ordering some parts soon.

First things first. The alternator needs replaced. Not a lot of sparkly fun here...Probably just to go RockAuto.com and pick up a replacement.
Next will probably be suspension and exhaust work. This vehicle has been so loud since we bought it. The airbox was modified, and howls like a ricer. I replaced it with a Volant box and it helped a little bit, but when I get higher into the RPM's, it is deafening. So, I think I'm going to replace the headers, catalytic converters and muffler as well as all pipe. Move to a complete stainless system.

Next will be suspension and bushings. I have acquired quite a squeak with the suspension. Also will look to replace the brakes. I have a Power Stop kit in the garage. Just been waiting for the timing to be right to be in there to go ahead and do it.

    Alright y'all....

Operation: Freddie 4runner Lives is in full swing.

After sitting under a tree for almost a year, through a harsh winter here in Indiana, I have resurrected Freddie from the dead.

First order of business was to get it at least running again.

    -New battery
    -New alternator
-Timing belt and water pump service
    -New accessories belt

Once I got this done, some other little demons reared their ugly heads. Aside from my OCD ticking like a time bomb about the current state of the paint and interior cleanliness, I need new tires, suspension, headlight, tail light, front passenger side turn signal issue and exhaust and brakes.

Once I got it up and running, I pulled it into the garage and started a painstakingly slow process of cleaning it up. Hit the windows with some glass cleaner and let it sit. Warm bucket of soap water to clean all the door jams and nooks and crannies to get the tree smutz off. Then I took it to a DIY car wash and pressure washed it and scrubbed it with a brush. (Typical, I know.) This didnt get it completely clean on the outside. The roof was still covered is dirt and debris.

I removed the roof rack and cleaned the bars and checked the rubber on the bottom side to make sure it was still in good condition. While I had the roof clear, I took it to a local Blue Beacon Truck Wash and had it cleaned using high pressure and good chemicals. this also strips the paint of all waxes. NOW IT IS CLEAN! Reinstalled the roof rack when I got home. Will remove the support bars (3) to polish and wax later.

I am happy to report the exhaust has been repaired utilizing a OEM style muffler (this thing was crazy loud...like, white trash loud) and the turn signal issue in the front passenger side was remedied. I also changed the brakes on the front to Powerstop slotted and drilled rotors and sport pads. Stops much better now. Like, completely different vehicle. The brake pedal is firm throughout the entire braking process.

New tires went on this week as well. Cooper S/T Maxx in stock size, 265/70 R16.

I have a new headlight sitting on the work bench at home. I think I will simply swap the glass lens from the new headlight to the factory housing. (I'd like to do a retrofit, but that is not in the budget right now.

I also ordered some of these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07D5S74KT/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

and a new license plate for the front:

This is how Freddie sits now!
