It's official! I got my hands on a 2019 TRD Offroad - Now some questions

Hi everyone,

I thought I had one a few weeks back, but it didn't clear inspection due to transfer case issue. However I got my hands on one this time and it cleared my mechanic's inspection. A few small things it needs, but no major mechanicals other than the belt looks like it's time to replace, so I will do that, the vehicle does have 120K miles on it.

Now some questions. The previous owner bought blackout covers for the branding. However I am missing a TRD on one side and the original silver one is showing. Any idea where I can find something like this? They are a plastic cover with sticky adhesive inside them. I want to replace it as they look nice and the rest of the vehicle has them.

The other wonky thing is I believe the previous owner bought new SR5, and he basically stripped this one of many of the TRD parts. The bumper cover and TRD skids are gone, side step bars, even the floor mats. I got this thing a few thousand under market value so I have no complaints about this as I knew what I was getting into and I plan on putting something like the RT Stealth bumper and side armor with kickouts I've seen on here. However, I was wondering about a few things specifically:

Floor Mats: Is there anything special about the 4Runner floor mats or should I look at aftermarket? I am a mountain biker so I will be dirty sometimes when driving.

Seat Covers: These are cloth and a buddy mentioned to me that there are neoprene aftermarket covers that do a good job. Due to being sweaty and sometimes muddy from my mountain bike, I would like to get a good cover that will keep my grime out of the original fabric. I figure some of you overlander guys may can point me in the right direction of something functional and easy to clean.

Although I am planning on a front bumper, I am considering just trying to find the stock cover for now if I can find one cheap. Any suggestion for sourcing this? All my searches for front bumper parts end with aftermarket upgrades. I'm just thinking if I can find that part cheap, it won't be such an eye-sore to me missing.

Leveling Kit: I'm probably not going to run larger than stock tires on it, but I would like to level the front end. What's the story on the spacer kits I have seen for around $130-150? Is that a sensible option or should I do this through a suspension upgrade?

I have the same vehicle with the same mileage. I bought 4Runner all weather mats for front and back seats and cargo area. I really like them.

If you want maximum coverage floor mats, I would recommend looking into TUXMATS. Originally had Weathertechs and then swapped to Tuxmats as they offered the most coverage based on what I've seen out there.

No skin off my nose. I wouldn't do it but whatever floats the prior owner's boat. I think, for my purposes, the SR5 Premium is the better car!

Ditto. I have the Lasfits and they kick butt.
I went with OEM cargo area mat/tray at a good price but I do not like it. It slips around all over the place. Some members here like it so it's your call. Lasfit did not have a cargo tray...

 

You'll get many suggestions for floor mats that are better than OEM. I went with Oedro, but most of the all weather style outshine the original mats. As far as an OEM bumper cover, new might be your only choice - most aftermarket bumpers have you keep at least part of the original bumper, and cut the rest out to fit the aftermarket version, so I don't know if anyone would have a used intact front OEM bumper cover.

The Off Road did not have a TRD skid, those only came on the Pro model. The Off Road has the same skid as all the other 4Runner models.

There's a lot of seat cover options, do a search and pick the one you like. I also have cloth seats, so I just went with reasonably priced covers to preserve my seats.

As far as leveling, my choice, and the choice of a lot of others on here, is either Eibach Sport Truck or Bilstein 5100 shocks with the snap ring set on the second groove in the front, for .85" of lift. Either of these options will improve the ride, especially if you go front and rear. Rears don't change the ride height, they just are better shocks.

Welcome fellow 2019 owner (I think...the thread title says 2019, but your details say 2016, but that may be what you were originally looking at...)

 

It did me me as well at first. However I was able to get it a few thousand under market value and I wanted to put a bumper and better sliders on it, so it basically saved me the money that most of the upgrades I wanted will cost. In the end I will have the upgrades I want at market value.

 

And you're sure its an actual OR and not a rebadged SR5?

Yes. It was verified through the VIN.

 

... And I found the listing for it on YouTube 4 years ago at a dealer in North Florida. It was bone stock TRD with 20K miles. Video did a full walkaround and it had all the stuff on it. I matched up the listing with my VIN.

That's what I ended up ordering for the front and back seats (Oedro). I'm also a musician and will be carrying gear in the back from time to time, so I'm gonna shop the back mats and mats for the back of the seats when folded down more closely do deal with equipment scuff protection.

 

The ones in the link in post #4 have gotten some good reviews by members on here. I don't carry a lot of stuff, so the oem cargo liner works for me.

I use covers like that (there are a bunch on Amazon that are all pretty much the same). They work great with my keyboard, amp, stands, etc.

Thanks for the reminder on the details. Yup, that was the one that had some mechanical issues, so I didn't go with it. I'll update my stats.

 

A ton of owners have gone with Bilstein, I just read early on when considering the job that some preferred the ride of the Eibach shocks, that they were a tad less harsh so I went with them. I don't think you can lose either way. Others can chime in on the difference if they've had both. 4 years later, I'm still happy with my choice.
