Good day all, I have a 2001 4runner with its OEM mounts. Should I replace them with OEM or aftermarket? Any feedback is appreciated.

What's wrong with the mounts? They should last forever.

But OEM all the way if you really are going to replace them.

When I brake and come to a complete stop; after releasing the brake pedal, I feel my car jolt forward like something is catching or its the motor mount. my 2001 4runner has 205k miles on it and was thinking about changing all mounts and suspension. Also, my 4runner vibrates a lot more when I am standstill in drive.

Find out the true cause. Don't just guess or throw parts at it. The motor mounts might be an issue but it's not something common.

I am going to replace the mounts (+20 years old), and suspension see what happens. Now I am hoping it is just the mounts and nothing to do with the transmission. Thank you for the feedback

In your driveway, pop the hood and start it. Put it in drive and left foot brake hard, now rev it up to 3k+ (power braking). Watch to see if the motor lifts an excessive amount. Now put it in reverse and do the same thing. This can determine if you have a bad left or right motor mount or if both are bad.

    Mounts don't last forever.

If you're going to replace the mounts you might as well do it properly. Go OEM

This style of mount usually does. These aren't the crappy fluid filled or vacuum assist ones or soft rubber ones on many newer cars.

I threw a Gibson catback on and made extra careful cares to ensure there were no rattles and enough clearances around the exhaust itself. Started it up, all things sound and feel great, I even made sure I have a pinky-width of clearance over the frame in the back...but once it's in gear, especially in reverse, there would at times be a rattle u til shifted into either park, or forward...I've thrown it in the air x6 trying to locate the rattle and haven't found it...I still have my pinky-width of clearance and see no shields that aren't tight and out of the way...so my assumption is, though I have only 105k miles in it, I may be experiencing a tired motor mount. I plan on having someone change the gears while I'm underneath to see where the rattle is coming from...moral of the story, yes they fail more when more parts are involved but they can still fail or start to fail from age or heat cycles too...preaching to the converted, I know.
