Possible to new 4R owner....

Buying a vehicle and haggling is one of my most hated things

 

2018 offroad. 4x4 was a must but I didn’t get kdss.
It was the last one on the lot and I wanted the incentive that came with a 2018 since the 19’s are outnor coming out

 

Yeah it seems that way but they have called three times today so maybe it’s not dead yet!

 

Haha that’s a great sign. Means they’re getting anxious. I bet they come down and meet you closer to your demands before the weeks end

 

I’m think end of month sales are low as I have heard they have not moved a lot of vehicles......I think they are waiting to see what the real numbers are for the month before cutting this deal loose.

 

One thing on this rig is they added TRD rims black bumper piece front and rear TRD shift knob and one other thing that added 4K to the price and I am working off the price before add ons. One thing I’m not fond about is the lack of technology in the 4R it’s really needing a face lift bad.

 

For the sake of this deal I hope numbers are low and they bite the bullet and succumb to your target price

 

Here is what I mean about those bumper thingies they used to be silver or white I guess I also think they tried to make it look like a TRD PRO....

 

That is true others I have looked at have silver they tried making a "faux Pro" and adding to the profit margin....

I don't think this deal is quite done yet as they have called me 6 times today.

I might just go with a 19 TRD Off-Road

I think I am just going to wait and get a 19 Taco I actually just left the dealer and I can build what I want he is going to put some numbers together on my possibly new 2019 Super White TRD Off-Road with white over fenders instead of black w/premium package and it look like it might save me about $2700.....

 

Have you driven a 3rd gen taco? I've been driving Tacoma's for 20 years. My 2018 Tacoma after two months... I can't stand it. It's awful. Worst transmission of any car I've driven over 40 years. And there's a howling sound coming from
somewhere that Toyota refuses to address. I'd recommend an extended test drive. A couple days if possible.

 

Yes indeed I have a 17 TRD Off-Road other than some bullshit issues I am happy with it who knows I may just keep my 17....But with the 18 fleet of 4R getting more scarce i'm not able to get the one I want within 700 miles now....

I think the deal is officially dead now as we are unable to to get the numbers right.

 

No way, the lack of tech is why I bought it and why it's the most reliable vehicle in the USA. Get one while you still can.

 

Did you buy a Limited?

For one it has no independent climate control, no back up or cross traffic warning and very small NAV/Audio screen just to name a few....

I am in no way knocking the performance of the 4 Runner it just needs some updating and is by far a beast on the road but it lacks more of the finer things of interior comfort and convenience it needs a major interior overhaul whats it been 8 years? Kind of reminds getting me of getting into a Acura MDX/RDX and it looking like a 10 yr old Honda Pilot...

 

No I have a 2016 Trail Edition. I like it just the way it is. But then my previous vehicle was a 1989 FJ62.

 

Both are excellent choices that FJ is a BEAST that thing could drive through the Colorado river and smile! But the T4R needs an up-date with the current production vehicles hitting the market and it looks like 2020 will be the year I am told....

 

Yes it will get an update. An it will most likely get the Camry motor like the truck did. Lets hope it doesn't go the way of the Nissan Pathfinder. Time will tell

 

Well I am working on trying to get a 4 Runner again but these dealers are scum sucking bottom feeders and want to steal my 2017 TRD Off Road from me....

I hope you get the deal you're looking for. I was just looking when the dealer offered me way too much for my Tacoma. I still left and contacted multiple dealers for price quotes on the 4runner I wanted. Then I went back to the first dealer and they matched the price, but lowered their offer for the Tacoma significantly. I almost walked out and they finally came back up enough to get me to pull the trigger.

I don't know what they're offering you for your truck, but if you're researching the trade in value online, some websites will give you high expectations. KBB is fairly accurate.

On the other hand, one dealer low-balled me so bad I almost got into an argument. Instead I just left.

Also, I'm another TW convert. I had 2 4runners before the Tacoma, though.

 

They offered me 21K for a 17 TRD Off Road in excellent shape w/50K..... KBB has it @ 25K-27.8K trade in and they wont move on the 4 runner price. So i told them to find a sucker for that deal!

 

How many dealers have you talked to? That seems extremely low. Is it possible the dealer entered the wrong information?

I got low-balled by an idiot used car manager who had based their appraisal on a prerunner, while I had a TRD off road 4×4.

Are you special ordering the 4runner? That's the only way I can see them not moving on the price.

I was able to get $4K off MSRP by taking a truck off the lot.

 

They based it right just a low ball offer even the salesman said it was low and actually was embarrassed to bring it back to the table! nothing special just a White 4 runner TRD Off Road premium w/KDSS...

I pushed for $4.5K off and the manager looked at me and said you realize they are selling @ or above MSRP I told him BULLSHIT your just padding your numbers.

I told him he needs to visit Willie Wonka factory they have plenty of suckers!

I am on my 5th dealer and they all want to steal the truck the used truck market is hot all over right now. The dealer last night actually had my truck sold as I asked the salesman WTF was talking so long to get my appraisal (2 hrs) they put my truck on a dealer auction site to see if it would sell...
