I like the idea, but I think if you were to go this way, you'd still benefit from an actual ladder rung running the full horizontal length as opposed to a molle cutout. This design lacks purchase for your feet and too many pounds/square inch on the feet when using it as a ladder.

Thanks for the feed back! I would say about 99% of people who are ordering this arent even using it for the ladder just the molle storage.

 

How much drilling?

 

There are only 2 holes for drilling at the bottom for support

100%. Tough to beat tried and true traditional ladder rungs. Easy to step on, easy to grab, easy to hold. But this ladder, not at all.

 

It really depends on what people are using it for. Some may want to go the traditional route with the ladder, but many of our costumers are want to maximize their storage while having access to their roof. If you need anything please let us know.

 

I like it...so versatile. Good price too. If Cali-Raised rolled this product a few years ago...I would have bought it.

Is there any way you can mount recovery boards to this ladder? I would like to know if that is possible and how to do so. Thanks

 

Its possible! We recommend strapping it down with tension tie downs/bungee cords. Unfortunately because of the bend in the ladder, our traction board mounts would be too long in order to be compatible. If you would like to discuss some ideas further, please call customer service at 888-385-5036!

 

Plus no sidebars to hold on to. The side pieces on this look semi sharp. To much weight on the back and the hatch wont stay open anyways.

 

I heard yall are figuring out designing brackets and mounts for those that would be awesome to have on the ladder! If anything comes out it would be great if you could let me know so I can hop on that

I have always wanted a hard shell case that mounts to inside MOLLE panel. I have the bags mounted there now. But I've always wanted a kind of mini-pelican style case. You know, a hard shell case. I've seen them made for Jeeps but I cannot find any for 4Runners.

Do they make them?

 

I’d think if they work for jeeps, they’d work for anything, since the idea of molle panels is just to have a place to hang or mount anything you want (after you figure out how to mount it).

You know what the coolest, most useful looking thing I ever saw that would be perfect for mounting on an interior molle panel?

Any narrow variation of file folder boxes! It’s perfect as an extra “glove box”. Throw in all those loose things or small bags that are a pain to mount up individually. I think I’m gonna try this. It’s not “overland rated” though

 

I can't say I have seen any yet or heard of one for that matter but it sounds like a really great idea to explore!

 

I think that ladder looks sweet.

With all that weight, how well do the hatch struts work in the cold?

 

Regardless of the temperature, we do recommend upgrading the struts to a heavy-duty set up on the rear hatch to accommodate the newly added weight!
