Redline is better. Its not like Toyota makes the stuff anyways..

I also ordered the the diff fluid, the guy at the dealership parts kept telling me I could use any aftermarket fluid as they only had the Toyota juice in bulk and would take some time for canned ones ro ship. Maybe subsequent oil changes I will switch to aftermarket.

Yeah private label at some small lubricant company. Not saying they dont make good stuff, as likely they make it to a Toyota recipe to hit certain specs, but it is what it is.... like most of Toyotas parts.. not made by Toyota.

Now Redline is one of the few quality oil manufacturers left anywhere.

Doesn't matter what brand you use as long as it's the proper viscosity

Let's see if or when they take revenge.

It's over for your Runner. The ECU knows the brand of oil you use and is communicating that to Toyota HQ.

Good stuff. I used their MT90 in my 2016 and 2020 manual Tacoma's and loved it. Shifted much smoother.

I used this as well, t-case seems to shift smoother then with stock fluid. But then the stock fluid that came out was still pretty golden in color and didn't really need to be changed.

Is that the same place in Japan where Toyota cheated on emission tests, Koito falsified reports on aircraft seats, and Takata made its airbag detonators? :stirthepot:

Definitely smoother. I do all diffs, transfer case, and transmission drain and fill every two years since I tow a heavy trailer and have 37s.

It's cool that it's made in Japan .jdm. haha.

But, the brand you use does not matter.. Atleast not in a 4runner. Fact is as long as it has the correct amount of fluid/oil in it you won't have an issue. They aren't very sensitive.

And how often are you suppose to change the transfer case and diffs ? It should be like 100k miles.

I wouldn’t go 100k miles on the transfer case, especially if you tow/off road.

Yes, if the vehicle is abused then I understand changing any fluid/oil more frequently.

Brand does matter. Theres a ton of junk or partial synthetics on the market. You can get away with cheaper oils if you do shorter OIC, but otherwise for something that is high value like a diff or Tcase, why wouldnt you spend a tiny bit more and get Redline which is one of the only true PAO based oils left for sale.

Ask the guys at East Coast Gear Supply if that's true.

Wouldn't be surprised if you don't get the answer that you like.
