What have you done to your 5th Gen 4Runner today?

Finally got the oem black lugnuts on ... now if I'm motivated I'll go give her a bath. Also a pic for those wondering about how they will sit compared to the tallboys.

Mounted the Tred brackets directly to the rack floor rather than a crossbar to drop the profile a bit. The side rail position is much easier to reach and doesn't interfere with cargo space; this is more of an everyday spot to stash them.

 

Hi, this is a freeland bumper, Arthur and his brother make nice stuff. I'm also in QC.

 

Installed the Cornfed 1” front leveling spacer and completed an oil change. Also peeled off the front driver side window tint that needed to be replaced.

 

Hooked up the trailer and went to the big field RC club first time this season.

 

Nice set-up! I raced 1/10 RC cars for years.

 

I received my matching TRD 17” x 7” (4 offset) OEM rim yesterday from BAM Wholesale Parts. What a great deal! Going to utilize my spare tire when I rotate my tires.

 

driving the 4R to downtown Vancouver all week before I receive a work truck from new salary job.

 

Jumped on the grill mesh bandwagon. Installed aluminum 6x1 mm honeycomb mesh.

 

Best choice, I have it and nothing beats it.

 

Nice setup. I'm just learning that one loses the storage in the right hand side of the trunk with the TRD Pro due to the JBL Sub. Another one in my list on why I personally prefer the ORP (not bashing, just coming to that realization)

 

Swapped the stock dash tweeters with cheap Kicker coaxial 3.75" speakers from Crutchfield. Nice upgrade and pretty easy install even though I had to crimp the wires because the harness that Crutchfield supplied did not mate with the Kicker leads.

Been away from the forum for a little while. This is not what I did today but I traded in the 2015 White Runner (and 2011 FJ for a new Lime TRD Pro Runner, back in March.

Since the purchase, I have tinted all the windows (factory and aftermarket tints were removed) including windshield and visor tint. Installed Matte Black Overlays to the badging on the rear hatch (every other badge on the vehicle was already black...why would anyone leave the rear silver?). Replaced the full exhaust with a Gibson Black Elite Dual Sport Exhaust System and installed an Airaid Performance Air Intake System and throttle body spacer. Added AVS Window Visors to the front and rear windows. Installed Black Smoked LED Tail Lights, Morimoto XB LED Headlights, and Fog Light Fang Bezel Kit.

I have a Prinsu Full Length No-Drill Roof Rack we will be installing in a few weeks along with 2 40" LED Light Bars that were originally purchased for the FJ's roof rack (putting one in the front and the other in the rear of the new rack) along with my front and rear facing BlackVue dash cameras with battery backup.

Then wheels and tires...and quite possibly a 3" Toytec suspension lift...maybe.

 

Cost?

 

Asking out of curiosity, has anyone ever installed these Tyger Automotive roof racks? I know they aren't the big name brands, but curious if anyone likes or dislike these?

(And I known the old saying: you pay for what you get. So let the buyer beware.)

Yep, DD SAE floods. Brightness and throw are comparable to the OEM floods. Quality is great.

 

No problem at all. Yep, brackets included. The kit comes with everything you need. One thing, although the kit includes a switch, I recommend purchasing an OEM style switch and mounting the switch in one of the empty spots on your dash switch panel.

 

Installed a RCI diff skid plate, rotopax gas tank, traction boards, and moved the recovery shovel (previous location didn’t let the hatch open.)

 

I'm back to basics. Grill / Raptor lights go to trash and DRL bulbs back. Had to give up on quad highbeams.
One light was completely out so I couldn't take it any more.
For anyone thinking if these are 5/10 doller raptor lights, no They are $60 lights. I even spend for a light bar wire harness and a dash switch for the install. I didn't simple use a fuse tap.
I suggest you don't waste money on these junk.

 

DD quality is awesome in my experience. The SS3 Pro fogs are absolutely fantastic. Higher quality than OEM by a long shot. Not even close.

 

Can these be used for everyday night driving complementing the low beams or they are specifically for inclemental weather?
I have halogen reflectors and bulbs for fogs.
Either I run a h9 bulb, or these or try the new LED fogs from 2020+ 4Runner If they fit.

 

80% Off Road Rear bumper welded up. Just need to let the paint dry and install the bumper cover

 

The DD SS3 Pro fogs are SAE compliant, suggesting you can use them for on-road everyday driving. In my experience, they do throw a lot of glare, even when aimed properly. So, I treat them as I would a high beam. When other cars are approaching, I just turn them off for a few seconds. They're fantastic for lighting up the ditches in areas where deer/critters are an issue.

The SS3 sports have a better cutoff for oncoming traffic but aren't quite as bright, and they won't melt accumulating snow/ice (but they're still much brighter than OEM).

 

Finally have the 80% Off Road bash bar installed. Tagging you guys since I know you were waiting to see how it turned out! @Harringbr99 @2021venture

Finally got around to installing the OEM LED headlights which I bought from a fellow forum member. Replaces the OEM Halogen ones. Went with the quad-high-beam harness from FBC Harness Solutions and couldn't be happier. What a difference this upgrade makes.

 

No photos but I let my 13 year old drive a couple laps of a big abandoned parking lot in the 4R. Unlike a lot of kids his age he cant wait to get his learners permit and start learning to drive in a couple years. He did surprisingly well and didn't treat it like an xbox game and launch us though the windshield or anything

I even threatened to buy an old shitbox 5 speed and teach him manual. He smiled.
