Shrockworks Front Bumper, CBI Rear Swing Away with dual Jerry Cans and full size spare, Full Shrockworks Armor, Warn 9.5 Synthetic, PIAA Lighting on roof rack and front bumper, Rear lighting wired to vehicle's reverse gear, Dobisons dual slide out rear bay storage with sliding top and refrigerator tie-downs, Limb Risers, Gobi Rack w/mounted Powertank, Fire Extinguisher, Jack, Axe, and Shovel, 33" Nitto Grapplers (295/70/17), Body Mount Chop, Icon Stage 7 Billet w/S2 Stage 3 Secondary adjustable front suspension, 3.5 inch Icon Stage 7 Billet with Billet Upper and Lower Links, Icon Bump Stop, 3.0 inch Icon Overland Rear Coils, ARB Front and Rear Air Locker with ARB Differential Breather (relocated to engine bay), ARB Twin Compressor mounted in engine bay, 360 degree, 4-camera system with DVR with monitor mounted on the dash, Dual Rear Headrest Monitors w/DVD and gaming capability Future mods in 2019: Magnusson Supercharger w/Catback system and possibly an roof mounted, solar heated shower and water storage
Just got my rig back from the 4x4 shop, installed:

    1) Icon Stage 7 (Billet); 3.5" of lift in the front
    2) Icon Stage 3 Secondary Front w/reservoir
    3) Icon bump stops and Heavy Duty Rear Coils; 3.0" of lift in the rear
    4) Front ARB air locker (to match the ARB Rear air locker)
    5) Nitto Grapplers--295/70/17
    6) Yes, the tires required a slight Body Mount Chop
    7) re-geared to 4.88
    8) Wiper fluid bottle had to be replaced with a new one, and put in a new place to make room for the front reservoirs (I have a Shrockworks front bumper, which takes a lot of the stock bumper away from the truck).

    Pictures forthcoming.

Drove it in the mountains this past weekend; the suspension and tires really surprised me. It drove like butter on the highway; I mean, it was smooth and quiet. Off road it ate up everything I threw at it, of course, having the front and rear air lockers adds a tremendous amount of climbing and traction power. Shop told me the race suspension (with the secondary fronts) can handle jumps. Too soon for me to try, though.

Forgive my ignorance, but does this come with lower control arms as well?

Is the front stance wider than stock?

The stance is wider than stock by 2.5"; and, no, the stage 7 does not use lower control arms (you can see the UCAs in the pics, however).

I like the Shrockworks front bumper. I'm looking at putting that bumper on my 2015 TE after I put a big ding in the front right plastic bumper while on a gnarly off road drive last month. The OEM front bumper bodywork could cost me more than a new bumper.

I know what those cables in front are for, but if you hit brush high enough to deflect off those cables, then it's going to take off your snorkel and maybe your mirror too.

After the bumper install did you need to install the snorkel because the fender liner is cut off where the air intake is? Did you install the Shrockworks or Expedition One washer bottle relocation kit?

You are right about hitting brush, could take off the snorkel, which has a removable top, so that would probably/usually pop first. Better than the windshield I suppose. The top is about $10 to replace. Done it once already.

No, the snorkel wasn’t necessary after the fender cut, nor the wiper bottle to be moved.

However, had to swap the wiper bottle (for expedition) in order to put in the Icon Stage 7 and Stage 3 secondary shock.

Thanks for the reply Joseph. These are things I'm trying to figure out. The Shrockworks bumper is my favorite of the 5 or 6 I've seen. I did the ICON Stage 7 tubular lift with the Delta ball joint. I got 2" to 3" of lift and I needed every bit of it last weekend on Miller's Run in Frazier Park.

I was the same: Shrockworks was my favorite, too. It’s really a solid piece. One thing (that you may already know) is that the bumper comes with inserts to be placed below your headlights, replacing what was removed with the stock bumper, but will need to be painted to match your vehicle color. Your shop will have to arrange.

I think when it comes around to it, I’m going ARB for the front bumper. A lot of people don’t like it because of the looks but having had them before I can say they are solid and designed superbly.

The ARB bumper is definitely a solid piece.

    Hi Joseph,
Yes, that's one of the things I like about it. I don't have to precision cut the stock bumper to save the top of the OEM bumper. A couple of the available bumpers offer that. I can have them painted.

The bumpers that try to emulate the OEM bumper with the vertical slotted feature next to the fog lights just don't look right to me. The feature these bumpers create in steel protrudes out farther along with the bumper and only lines up when viewed from the front.

...plus, the Shrockworks elimination of much of the front really increases your approach angle, which I like quite a bit. While the front, stock bumper does look nice on a stock vehicle, for offroading/overland driving, I like a more functional front-end. I recommend getting the full set of Shrockworks skids, if able. Good quality plate work.

Thanks Joseph. I agree, the improved approach angle will be a good change. The stock plastic bumper is so susceptible to damage.
I have a full set of RCI skid plates. The OEM skid plates were a joke. I bent the engine skid plate on every off road trip. The OEM gas tank skid plate offers more protection for the front face of the gas tank and it may be adequate, but the engine, transmission and transfer case deserve better protection.

    Joseph,
What do you think of the Dobisons drawer setup? Do the wings fit a 4Runner properly?
    Will you post some pics?
    Thanks,
    Mike

    Hi Mike,

I do like the Dobisons drawer, but there weren't any wings with it (don't remember it being an option with the 5th gen; doesn't mean they don't make/sell them, I just didn't pursue them).

Nonetheless, a few things about the drawer: it is solid, and I mean really well constructed. This is not a cheap, assembly line, low-quality-parts system. The company really builds a solid piece. Getting it into the back of the truck is absolutely a two-person job, as the drawers are unbelievably heavy. It arrived to me nearly fully assembled (thank goodness), and on a palate. I'm really strong (power lift) and I had to use a lot of my strength to get it into the truck on my own. I wouldn't do that again; dropping the drawer on a foot or leg would easily snap a bone.

I like the slide out top, with the tie-down anchors. Really helpful. I have my drawers packed to their brims with recovery gear, medical packs, emergency rations, full tool-kit, air compressor parts, and much, much more. The drawers also lock. One tip, however, is to ensure that the "drawer stops" are installed (I made that term up). These are the pieces that prevent the drawer(s) from coming completely out of the system and falling to the ground. These were the only parts that I had to install. Not sure why Dobisons didn't just put them on, but nonetheless, if you buy the system and it arrives the same way as mine, take the time to install them, or risk having the drawer fall on your feet. Maybe, if buying it, you can ask them to install ahead of time. They were really responsive to me on the phone and email.

When I can I'll get some pictures here.
