Rear Ended. Bumper/Valance Damage. QUESTION!

I just got my T4R 2 weeks ago and it just got rear ended while I was sitting in traffic..

Luckily the car that hit me was low and the only damage that was sustained was the rear bumper, valance clips to hold it to the bumper and valance cover.. but it was minor.. my ins wants a $250 deductible but I was going to just replace the valance and touch up the paint on the bumper since its palstic..

The other driver was uninsured sadly and drove off.

Big question is: are the rear valence covers hard to replace? Do I need to remove the whole bumper? Pics of the damage below

 

sound more like you should have kicker her in the balls or punched him in the boobs.(depending on the driver) I'm sure someone here will be willing to send you their old cover if there not using it.

 

You can buy those valence on EBAY for $250. This link is front and rear for $394. Might as well get this kit in all black.

on the insurance coverage so the person that hit you took off and you did not get all the info ? so insurance company is gonna cause you to be the issue .. how can a person drive a car with NO insurance ??
I would have gotten the license plate number and call 911.. probably on drugs or illegal ..

The guy took off after he gave me his information.. which then the state trooper said he didn’t have a license (the guy showed me an ID card - in MD we got new license cards and he covered the top of it which said “ID CARD”, so I didnt know he didn’t have a license)

He had fake tags on his vehicle showing VA temp tags - but they were just random numbers printed on a piece of paper - so his car most likely wasn’t registered.

After mentioning the trooper was on his way, he took off immediately. I was so pissed.

 

The Rear valance can be removed with clips and prepped and painted if you want. Easy project to fix.

 

sorry you got screwed on this ... that person should have been arrested and ICE should deport that SOB.

 

ok ppl calm down, yall dont know if they even were illegal, yall jumping to conclusions. dont get me wrong I'm as prejudice and racist as the next guy (sarcasm, with a ring of truth) but maybe just maybe the person was just a scumbag, and now that we have a little more insight, that really seems to be the case they're a scumbag. hope they got what they deserved. back to subject. hope you find someone that isnt using theirs anymore they might gift it to ya. I would bud, but I havent installed a steel bumper yet.

I never mentioned the persons race no way .. could be he was from Ireland and was drunk had NO license because he over stayed his visa .. LOL.... that is why he ran off .. also probably a felon ..

DC area is not to my liking as I do drive thru that area every year ...south then north

You will have to remove the whole bumper to get the valance off. Good Luck!

 

That would sure frost my windows! And it's just the type of thing that led me to install a 4-camera DVR hidden in the dash which records my front & rear cameras any time the key is on. That way if anything happens and either I can't grab photos quickly or if I'm so rattled or distracted I don't take them, I'll at least have some record of what happened to show police/use in court.

Just in case, I know most of the newer T4R's have a reverse camera; do you know if by chance there's any brief video storage saved to the ECU or something like that? ('course I suppose if it did do something like that it would probably only be triggered by a strong enough impact to set off airbags, etc.)
