Hey everyone, we just purchased a new to us 2015 4Runner and love it! One of our main upgrades to come is the headlights. We definitely want HIDs in the lows and LED in the Highs. That being said, is there a good budget friendly HID option that people are happy with? I have installed Morimotos before and love them, but they tend to get pretty expensive. I am not even sure if HIDs and budget friendly go together, and if not, please let me know.

    Thanks for your help.

They do not go together at all, you want to spend good money on them or you may end up with knock off junk made in china. I suggest like you said already Morimotos or Xeon Depot. They are pricey but are top quality.

I run them and love them. I have the 5500k to march my Auer 2in1 led/drl fogs and run led hi beams. Also bought license vanity lights and reverse lights. Makes a massive diffrence.

Another for Xenon Depot. 30,000 miles and two years, still going strong.

Bought mine during a sale and if I remember right got them for sub $130.

I went with XenonDepot Volt which is their cheaper kit. Has the same output. Kit has been amazing and insanely bright. It can be had right now for 94 dollars with their promo code. I ended getting mine for 70 during Memorial Day sale.

Tint, HID lows and LED fogs...so far
My HID's from Xenon Depot are being delivered tomorrow along with the LED fog bulbs. I went with 5000k on both. I've never had a vehicle with HID's before so I'll be interested to "see" the difference. In total, for lows and LED fogs with free shipping, it came to about $200. Anything is better than stock..just depends on how much you want to spend. :spending:

Have you guys had any issues in regards to blinding the car in front of you by switching to HId’s? I remember having to change the whole light to a projector light on my 2012 Tacoma due to this issue.

I had to aim them down just a touch. I’ve been flashed 4 times so far, 3 of those times I was cresting a hill so nothing I could do there.

I’ve ran DDM Tuning HID’s in a single headlight Motorcycle. I originally bought them with their 35 watt ballast and eventually upgraded to the 55 watt ballast that were awesome with the 5000k bulbs. Which ballast are you using and what temperature bulb are you using? Pros and cons???

I should have started a completely new thread with my lights, I piggybacked on Jester243's thread from his build. (Was still figuring out the site and how things functioned..lol)

Here's a link to that thread and if you scroll down, you'll see my post and pics. I ended up ordering another set of headlight caps, I ended up getting a little condensation in one as I think my bit wobbled a little when drilling them out for the HID's. Other than that, I love them! I can see so much better :muscleflexing:

Sooooooo,.. i fucked up, .. and bought the wrong model. Chalked it up as a "derp", and reordered. This time, i did go with DDM tuning. I got the dust caps drilled at work, using a hole saw. Went to install the bulbs, and knew real quick, i got the wrong set. Damn it.
Snagged the DDM tuning ones, and then, had em in with in 10 mins. If that. I just used some sheet metal grabber screws to mount the ballasts to spots on the fender. I will say, under the plastic above the fenders, is a dope location, tons of room there for shit, but.. meh..... i just went for it. They are rock solid, and there was OEM looms to zip tie all and any excess wire to.

Watched the Wanderlost vid, and the issue they brought up with the smaller gauge wire, i have zero concern about. IMHO, they over killed the shit outta that, (most vids i watched kinda did, no reason at all to remove the battery, i have HUGE paws, and got around everything easy) like they wanted em on a switch, for their own reasons, which i get, and, then they also added the scary amperage pull in, for some reason. Hell, even if they pull some amperage, at turn on, its gonna be sooooo quick, meh.... i, myself, feel completely fine with what is going on here. Ill put a amp clamp and meter (for voltage drop, and amperage pull) at MIN/MAX on em for funzies, just to see and know ( my dash voltage meter, dropped a 10th, SOME times, going ON/OFF, over and over and over)
No bashing at the least here. I like some of the vids they do, and their style. Most of the time.

Anyway. In, rocking and rolling. Time will tell, how long they last. But, most dig em, and dig thier record. I also stuck the OEM bulbs in a bag, and stuck em in my "ahhh shit bag" and put that in the back storage things, with my other "ahhhh shit" stuff.

    20190118_171935.jpg

Anyway,.. the shit was cheap, and easy as hell, quick as shit.
Also,... looks like i need to go shoot some clay pigeons .... hmmmm, guess ill do that tomorrow. ;) Cheers all.

Nothing real silly. I kinda plan for a "damn it" situation. Or, something some one else on the road side may need or could use. No "I need to survive for a month" shit.
Just a hand full of fuses, a kinda decent leather man, a spare lug nut socket for my rims, cheap jumper cables, small extinguisher, a can of fix a flat, a Klein 11-1 multi tool (it's there, because, i dig it ok, but my work stocks them in spare parts.....soooooo, ya lol ). 8, 9, 10, 12,13,17,19,21 MM sockets w/ratchet. It's a Toyota, .. feel like you can change a head gasket, shit, pull and toss in a motor with that shit. A low budget DMM (meter). A copy of my AAA, insurance card(s), a 50 dollar bill, spare bat for my key fob, and now, some spare OEM bulbs. Again, nothing full retard. And I'm sure it could be way better, but meh.... I just add to it as I go.
