    Whatever.

I like the GX. But, it's out of my price range. The new Landcruiser might be doable for me, though.

LC is okay, but the 6th gen is a waste of money.

Rugged offloading with liquid electrolyte cells - a explosive battery pack being jolted a million ways and possibly soaked - the turbo is a moot point...

...and you want to pay 10k more for this...

Why? Because you don't like it?

The drivetrain is a huge upgrade, at least on paper.

Lmao, whatever. Use whatever gears you want, you're not going to duplicate the torque the 6th gen is getting.

Yeah, dump a shitload of money into a 5th gen, rather than just buying something with more power. Great advice

Better than spending $50k on a new truck that isn't special. I would buy it if it haf GX motor

So, now the motor is the only thing you don't like?

The motor that has way more usable power than the 1GR is no good?

Nobody ever thought it was getting the GX motor. I don't know why people are acting like it was a surprise or a letdown.

The 4Runner should be $80K? Seems like it would have been a shitty move for Toyota.

$80 because it is Lexus and Overtrail and fully loaded. Its Toyota cousin would have been $55-$60k

As a humble published detailing artist and with a gut feeling for what looks good, I think the 6th gen models are a complete fail. IMHO. The overly exaggerated sharp lines remind me of a transformer like Bumble Bee. Very cartoon-like. Here in the USA it is more important for it to look cool. Is the 6th gen really a transformer? Search the comical laptop 'stuck in the dash' for the transformer blue button...

I wonder if there will be any issues with the batteries. That's one thing that could steer me towards the 6th gen over the LC is the option of a non-hybrid drivetrain. OTOH, if they're not problematic, the extra power could be appealing.

Toyota has been making hybrids for quite awhile, though. I think they can pull it off.

I almost went down the same rabbit hole on my tundra. Loved that truck but it just didn't perform well in the Colorado mountains.

SC- At the time a SC could have been purchased, installed for around 7000.00. Might as well add 1500.00 more for a full long tube header and exhaust system.

    Suspension upgrades 2500.00

Brakes- BBK was 2500 at least.

For 13500.00 I could have had a pretty powerful truck. However...it was still a half ton truck.

I looked at starting over with a newer Tundra in 2016 due to the fuel tank upgrade. Trucks were around 36-38,000.00 and then add towing equipment.

    38,000+13500= 51,500

    That's HD truck territory.

Yeah, it's possible it could work very well and they sure add a lot of torque. Maybe I'm just leery of the tech. I know electric is the future for sure but I'd feel a lot better if the batteries used were a better design.

I don't blame anyone for being hesitant about newer designs. I'd like to see a better battery as well.

I'll be interested to see how they work out on the trails over the next few years.

In truth, it's not a 4runner any longer. The 5th gen IS the last 4runner. What's in a name?

Toyota has 25 years experience making hybrids and over a decade with Lithium-ion family battery chemistry without battery fires galore especially with how many are rolling around out there - the only currently foreseeable hybrid issue here is figuring out how you're going to sleep on that cargo floor to begin with! (making a platform?)

There is no example of a hybrid out there that lasted 15 years, NONE. Time kills them, not miles. Hybrids make great Taxis and Ubers, rack up 500k miles in 7 years and dump them.
