Modifying 2022 TRD Offroad Premium

Greetings fellas. New member here. Just purchased a 2022 TRD Offroad Premium with KDSS and moonroof. Want to upgrade the on road ride first and foremost. Not into hardcore offroading but rather fire roads and sand. With that said thinking about following modifications. Dobinsons 0-3in lift kit. Upgrading to 33in Wildpeak or Geolanders. 3/4 Prinsu roof rack. C-4 Fabrication rock sliders. I know they are overkill but I like the way they look. Any thoughts or opinions welcome

 

Welcome! I see nothing wrong with what you have planned. Except, depending on your needs, a 285/70/17 tire might be a better option and is often available in the SL rating which is a bit lighter. That choice ultimately may be effected by your intended uses.

Everything looks good. You can always go 255/80/17 aka skinny and tall and don't worry about rubbing at all. I had the skinny before I went 285 and rubbed. Next set of tires will back to the skinny

 

Thanks for the replies. Yes worried about having a viper cut done. Not sure if I like the look or having part of the underside of the vehicle exposed

 

Welcome. The rock sliders are definitely a good idea to protect the rocker panels from debris kick up.

 

No lift needed in your case. Get a full set of skid plates, cheap steel bumpers, great tires and you are good to go. And a Viper cut for some more clearance

 

Why more clearance for fire roads and sand?

Just want to make sure 33's fit with no issues and take the forward rake out along with a firmer ride on pavement. No more than an inch or two lift at most.

 

Why do you need larger tires?

 

The tire fitment challenge best addressed by choosing wheels with neutral or positive offset. In other words, if you like the look of wheels that poke out (negative offset), you’ll have fitment issues.

This is not my daily driver. Like the C-4 Fabrication sliders I just like the way the truck looks with 33's. If it turns out I need a viper cut perhaps the cut can be modified.

 

Understand that depending on what rims you get, 33s wont clear, and your UCAs will be near their limit so alignments will prove difficult if not impossible to achieve the correct caster.

 

Understand but won't the Dobinson suspension that will allow a 1-2in lift remedy that. I understand there are things that can be done to the UCAs to reduce the angle that lifting and larger tires cause on them.

 

If they operate like the bilsteins, I dont see how they could. Im far from an expert. Whenever its time for ball joints, im going to look into aftermarket ucas to get more angle of caster.

You have a "sounds like fun" plan. We run plenty of fire lanes and occasionally they can get get kind of interesting, hills, rocks and such.... have fun.

 

I would just get some stock sized AT tires. I don't see any reason so do anything else with stuff that easy. Whatever you do, I would stay below 2" front lift so you stay in alignment. No need for aftermarket UCA then. My rig stayed in alignment at the 1.75" clip setting on Bilstein 5100s. If you are dead set on 33's, the bmc is likely, and some front wheel well magic will be needed. If you keep the stock wheels, you might, maybe maybe maybe, get away with not needing that bmc if you don't run out of caster. Or you just might need a small trim. Every rig is different. Good luck

I am of the opinion that if you do a bmc, just go to a 285/75r17. More rubber per $$$ baby
