    Hi all,

My name is Joel and I'm a local to CO. I was born and raised in Boulder but I currently live in Denver w/ my fiance. I have a decent crew of 4x4 friends but always open to expanding the crew. My first car was a 98' 4Runner Limited that I drove for 7 years. My current rig is a 2018 4Runner SR5 (Stormtrooper) w/ an Old Man Emu Lift, Nitto Terra Grapplers, Shrockworks sliders, TRD Pro Skid Plate, ExtremeLED Dual Layer Grille mounted Light Bar w/ Rago Mounts, and an OEM Audio+ sound system (check them out if you haven't - it's all plug and play and the 8" sub doesn't sacrifice any of your trunk space. I've done all of the mods myself except for the OME Lift. Always open to chat and help where needed. Cheers and looking forward to a great 4Runner community!

Welcome.. nice rig, but please, "stay on the trail" tree huggers are looking for ANY reason to close more trails.

Thanks! This actually looks like it is off the trail (well maybe a few feet off) at Mt. Baldy in Breckenridge. The trail is literally a few feet behind and in front of the pic, which in front has a nice few features to get over. I stopped at this spot because the photo op was perfect. I hear you though and will be more cognizant. I'm from Boulder, CO (tree-hugger capital of the world) so I'm cautious to take care of mother nature myself. Cheers!

Neither, yet. I've had this rig for about 6 months and I'm fairly new to off-roading. All of the trails I've been doing in CO have had good service and I don't hit trails alone. Any suggestions for when I get to it?

well there will people that say "HAM" is the only way to go but, the HAM radios are expensive, then you have the take a class and get a license, the cost of those are cheap. Then there are the CBs, now those can cost anything from $40 and up.
Right now I have the trusty CB that has been "tuned & Peaked" with an antenna that has the SWRs tuned so I get about 7-10 range, which is more than enough for any trail lol. I also have a pair of handheld HAMs that also have the MURS channels so I can talk with walkies-talkies etc. Since I dont have my HAM license yet, I stay off those freq. as the fines IF caught are pretty steep.

I would suggest, if you like exploring/wheeling alone, to get a HAM radio, as those you can hit "repeaters" that basically you can talk to someone MILES away if you needed help. If you're always wheeling with a group, then a CB is more than enough and a lot cheaper lol
I could go on and on lol but please feel free to ask anything... oh lots of people run both, as not everyone has the same lol

Hey Joel. I live in the metro (castle rock); definitely looking for trail ideas and off road partners. Let me know what you're up to do, I was thinking of doing Argentine Pass soon (near Guanella).

Joseph - Hope you are well man. I'd be down to do Argentine Pass soon. I'm going camping this weekend and will more than likely hit some trails. I was gonna do a night run on Wednesday but ran into a little speed bump when installing my new Shrockworks sliders because the rear mounting holes aren't threaded in newer models (revenue ploy by Toyota i'm sure). I won't be able to do a run other then a night run until after July 22nd. If you are open to doing an after work trail let me know. There are usually between 2-4 rigs total.

Sure thing. We can coordinate calendars whenever we are able -- I have a couple little ones, so logistics at home always has to be taken care of first. I'm at 3/506-9731

We can find some time to meet in the near future and then work on finding trails. I have a friend who will probably tag along in my truck, so he'd meet with us as well.

I'm a native and I have to agree that it's getting crowded. Always room for more outdoorsy, 4x4 people. There are so many trails here it's hard to keep up with.

Thanks! Just put on my sliders last night. Gobi stealth roof rack is going on August 9th. FYI... if anyone is looking to get a GOBI rack place your order through Stevenson Toyota West with a guy named Reese. Free install and they charge the same price of $1,595 but the turn around is in a month. I've read nightmare stories about it taking people 4+ months to get their rack.

Agree...my schedule with the truck is a little tight, I'm having the truck re-geared and a front locker put on in the middle of July, and then a new suspension/tires in the middle of August. So, I will be without it during those periods for about 3-5 days (each). Best window for me to meet (maybe we all can grab coffee somewhere to first get to know each other) is probably after the first round of work, so, I'm thinking around the forth week of July...???

I'm down! It'll be a little while for me as well. The 18 Limited belongs to the wife. The 97 has been totalled by the hail storm, a couple of weeks ago. We are in the process of looking for another 3rd Gen for my boy. The storm also did $13k of damage to my Tundra and $13k damage to my oldest boys Tacoma. So it may be a while before we get to play.

Keeping Yota in the fam, I like it! I'm back from vacation July 21st so I will need some time to recharge but last week of July and on is good for me except for a few weddings here and there.
