What have you done to your 5th Gen 4Runner today?

Once I scrub everything down and rinse it I take the blower and get it dry then use Factory Finish trim coating by Chemical guys. What I like about the product is that it comes out in a fog like mist and its not greasy

 

Do you have plans to add a bumper where you chopped the rear?

 

That’s a beautiful work of art! I seen the post that you use the chem guys trim coat…anything special used in the cleaning process? About how long does this take you?

 

I made a leveling platform for the cargo area, so it would lay flat when i want to camp out of it and sleep in the back.

 

Eventually I want to add something real minimalist and light weight. I’ve been talking with a fab shop about options.
I mainly hacked my bumper off for better clearance, I kept smashing it on the rocks.

I will high clearance cut my rear bumper as soon as I find what line to take, it's a difficult shape to cut pleasingly

 

Dropped off at the shop today for adds: 3" lift and leveling kit, 285/70/R27 Falken Wildpeak ATW4 tires, Fuel 17" Covert Bronze 17x9 6x5.5 +1mm rims, Black Out Overlays, Predator Steps, TRD Pro Style Grill, Raptor Smoked Amber Lights in grill and Remote Start. Pictures when I get it back.

Used today's day off and did some more work on the platform with my son. I didn't like how close the compressor was to the grey wire loom against the fire wall. So I had to trim up my platform to try a different way to mount everything. So far so good.

 

Looks good and it will do the job!

 

Dropped off the 17x7.5 Sequoia wheels at the powdercoaters today. Looks like RAL-8002 Signal Brown is pretty close to the redwood interior on my '23 Limited. Have new TPMS sensors and black lug nuts on the way as well. Not sure if I wanted to use the black center caps on the Limited wheels, so I ordered a different style just in case.

On the new trd pro wheels, will the stock SR5 lug nuts work or do I need new ones?

 

If they're Toyota wheels, you should be able to reuse the lug nuts. I think they're the "mag" seat style, that has a short barrel that fits over the stud, with a washer at the bottom. The "acorn" seat style ones are not the correct ones. I found this out when ordering black lug nuts for the Sequoia wheels I'll be swapping to.

Pull one of your lug nuts off and look at the bottom, and the hole in the wheel where it goes. The ones on my '23 Limited look like this, and the surface of the Sequoia wheel where the lug nuts go is flat, not dished like where you would need acorn-seat style lug nuts. If your wheel is flat under the lug nut, and the hole in the TRD wheel is flat as well, you should be able to reuse your lug nuts.

 

Yes they will. I used the stock chrome lugs until the black oem ones I ordered arrived. Hell, now I'm using the stock 4Runner chrome nuts on my 2023 Prius winter wheels lol

 

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I believe all stock wheels use the acorn style lug nuts

These are OEM 4Runner lug nuts, which I believe are the mag-seat style. I ordered a set of black mag-seat style lug nuts for the Sequoia wheels I'll be mounting based on this picture.

Those are acorn-seat style. Based on the description, they're for Pro-Comp wheels (and probably a lot of aftermarket wheels as well). I'm pretty sure the OEM Toyota wheels use the mag-seat style of lug nuts.

my stock ones look like these.

 

Changed out the cabin air filter and rotated the tires. Torqued to 76ft/lbs. Will re-torque at 50 miles then again at 100 miles.

 

Got some new license plate frames to get rid of my old dealer crappy ones.

 

added a winch and winch bumper this weekend. the magnum bumper fits nicely. I am pleased with the install.
still waiting on the shackles and different hook for the rope.

I posted previously about the difference between mag-seat style lug nuts and acorn-seat. Based on the pics I found of what OEM lug nuts look like, I'm convinced they're mag-seat. Here are some pictures of wheels that use mag-seat style lug nuts, and they're all 4Runner wheels:

I stand corrected! I just went and checked the wheels I picked up the other day as she had also given me her oem lug nuts too and they are indeed this style and that was on the TRD OR wheels. I hadn't taken my wheels off yet and hadn't seen this style on oem wheels prior.
