Anybody around here running this (BFG) tire size? I noticed Silver Arrow up in BC Canada likes to put these on their builds (I live in CO). Snowflake rating has a lot to do with the decision to go with BFG, though not many people go this wide. I understand the need to go with a 65 series to keep it in the 33 realm... I also realize the KO2 are very popular though the size most often seen is 285/70. I've gotta admit, the idea of choosing the wider tire is very appealing. If I choose to go with this tire they would be matched with Black Rhino Wheels (either Highland or Overland) that are 9.5" wide.

Additionally, If I was making my decision today, Id very likely choose to lift the truck ('16 TEP KDSS) with the Toytec Boss 2.0 kit (3 in / 2 in) matched with SPC UCAs.

    Thoughts? Comments? Concerns?

    TIA

Hmm... this is the first time ever hearing about this size. I'll be honest I have no words of wisdom, but I am curious. You may have to be the guinea pig.

I see a lift, BMC, bumper trim and a hammer in your future. ;-)

Honestly, I wouldn't go to that size just due to it being an oddball (to a degree). I always think ahead 'what if I need a replacement tire when on the road'....285/70r17 is fairly commonplace, 306/65..not so much.

If you do choose to go with the 9.5" wide wheel, you will need a lot of backspacing to help the tire clear.

With the 305/65 tire size, I would choose the 17x8.5" wheel with about 5" Back Spacing.

I have the 17x8.5" Method Wheel with 4.75" Back Spacing and a 285/70/17 tire and an Icon Stage 2 lift. No rubbing or any other mods needed.

I agree with going with the 285/70/17 for less issues and easier to find if needed.

Wouldnt you need alot less backspacing to push the tire out and keep it off of the ucas?

With less backspacing, It would create rubbing issues on the outer fender flares/body mount, but im thinking if you had more backspacing that it would be rubbing the frame rails and the upper control arms and possibly the spindles.

Feel free to correct me if im wrong, im just going off of what i know about tacomas.. 4runners may be a completely different animal..

Weird size for offroading. Lose tire height and ability to air down, have ot make several mods just to potentially fit it (assuming you find the right offset and it doesnt push the wheel/tire 12" outside the fender well) but bling factor of a wider tire? No bueno to me.
