What have you done to your 5th Gen 4Runner today?

Ahh I see, there's rear as well.
Ya I seen on the website it's a tiny drill bit, and 2018 and older you gotta trim a tiny bit of the bellow boot.
Without researching further, I feel like I can tackle this myself. I could be mistaken.
Happy for you tho dude, I haven't seen many folks running these on 4R .com but they're a smart choice

It looks like your door has a huge dent in it.

 

Was supposed to be heading out tomorrow morning to hit some trails up in the mountains but a project hit a snag. Does anyone know a better (easier) way to pull these damn square-pegged fender liner clips out? Several I can partially get to from the backside but some are in blind areas.

They are a pain in the ass to remove. Sometimes I take a small flat head screw driver and put inside the hole and pry it out from one side.
Sometimes I take a retainer puller and pull the whole retainer slightly out and then use the flat head screw driver from the outside and push the clip inside so it can slide out. But mostly, I keep a bag of these handy and normally just replace them because I lack patience to take them out without damaging them and just yank them out. Just yesterday I had to remove my front passenger fender liner and I think I got 2 and broke 1.

 

I scored some pro suspension off of Facebook for only $500, off of a 2021 with 15k miles on it. They were in VA so I had to pay to ship them ($100) as well as add new top hats, because the previous owner reused them for his 6112 ($40). All in for $640, which in and of itself is a great deal, plus my 100k mile SR5 suspension was due for replacement anyways.

 

I lifted mine 2 inches and it’s level now. Big improvement and out on 33s

After posting additions and upgrades to my build in this thread for the past 2+ years, not knowing there is a specific build section, I was asked by @Thacrow if I would consolidate the build in the build section. For those interested, I have. While the build is done and I am well satisfied with the outcome (especially after living in the 4Runner between Apr-Sep 2023 while working at night and sleeping comfortably during the day in the Arizona summer heat, and most recently traveling the NMBDR Jan 2024, the coldest being 7F), each adventure brings me back to the drawing board. I like to use the kdss kill switch probably every month keep the fluids flowin'. Not many see this dash warning and its actually OK.
It's cool to experience the body roll.
This is my most expensive switch.

 

DrKDSS may have a good solution for all those who see the warning for real reason.

 

dr.kdss is doing some great work! Probably what Toyota should've done by installing a switch in the truck to disable kdss when wanted, beefier parts, rebuildable shocks, etc...

It seems like Toyota built KDSS only for pavement princess trucks since the main benefits is to reduce body roll, which is ironic that they put it on the TRD OR trims. Off road performance are negligible if not worse in stock form (slightly better front articulation, slightly worse rear articulation, terrible on washboards/ dirt roads at speed, prone to get damaged more easily off pavement, etc...) Kdss wouldnt be as great off pavement if it wasnt for his contribution. With his stuff, it becomes a great feature both on and off pavement

 

was it hard running/hiding those wires in the lights?

 

Mobil1 75W90 for me as well front and rear

 

I also use Redline 75W in the TC in my 2011 ( no issues) and at 50k in my 2022.

 

As someone who just had the front kdss piston replaced under warranty, this is interesting. My question though is in regards to repressurizing the system after installing what is pictured. Would you have to build your own rig or does this aftermarket piston come with the necessary tool? My Toyota dealer had to wait a month and a half to get the tool in to do the pressurizing.

 

So far I don't have any info on this product other than what's in the pic. I will share when I get info posted on the kdss group I'm in. Hopefully this would be not more that changing shocks and rebuilding. I'm so thankful when it's not dealership only fix.

The truck was still drivable, the piston was weeping so it was a slow leak. But my bumper to bumper warranty was about to expire so I squeaked the repair in with a week to spare.

 

No filter access hole??

Hey thanks for all the shots and info. I had also considered one of the center console / Molle panel set ups but decided I did't want all that stuff directly over the shifter. I'll be pulling the trigger on the RAM set up and appreciate your comments on any (or lack thereof) rattling.
