Anyone have the Rhinorack Pioneer platform 76"x49" on the backbone system installed that has a moonroof?

I want the backbone system but the smaller platform doesn't work with it.

I don't think there would be any interference with the operation of the moonroof except that the rack does hang over it about halfway.

That's the only reason I'm leaning towards the Frontrunner because it does have the smaller rack on a siderail system.

I put the Frontrunner Slimline 3/4 rack on account of the moonroof a couple weeks ago. Also put one of their Easy Awnings on. I like it so far. My RTT takes up pretty much the whole rack tho... But I can always add more rack to the front if I choose to down the road. It's a pretty solid platform and doesn't weigh a ton.

I don't need an RTT.....yet. Mostly surf fish and ride on the beach. Need attachments for the recovery gear. I was going to buy 2 kayaks today but now it looks like I'm doing 4. Not sure if I can get 4 on top...ha ha....saw some pictures with them jerry rigged. Afraid if I go with the Rhino-rack I'll overload it quick.

Waaaiiittttt a minute……….it looks like you could do the full Frontrunner rack but leave all the slots to the back behind the moonroof and space them equally...…..

YUP! Lotsa options, I just didn't feel like drilling into my brand new 4Runner right off the bat, hence the 3/4 rack. Give em a call and tell em what you want, they're super nice and helpful!

And, No I don't work for them or get a deal, well I got 10% off using the code DOITEXPOWEST ;)

I think I can stomach the drilling.

I was in the same position as you. Didn’t think I’d need a RTT and just neededthe ability to put an awning and some storage boxes up top. I got the LFD Ruggedized crossbars in steel. They mount to your factory side rails AND if you decide you’d like to replace the side rails later, they offer steel side rails that the bars you already bought bolt up to.

LFD is a local company for me so I could just drive and pick them up. I saw the sides as well and picked them up, very heavy duty if I want to make that change later.

Just another options for you, I liked using factory sides now and if needed I can spend less to get new sides.

Their 3/4 one looks like it still overhangs the moonroof a bit. I do like that the individual bars mount to the side rails but I kind of like the long track systems so if I put a bag or something on top it wouldn't fall through and scratch the roof. Probably have to do at least 6 cross bars.....not a bad option.

Ya so the side rails are just a hair past the sunroof, I asked about that.

The “fix” is to either move the first bar back one spot and it won’t over hang or go with the 7/8 which is about halfway over the sunroof but high enough to not interfere with it tinting or sliding.

The full rack they will offer uses a bigger cross bar so it won’t be an option for me at least.

I put 4 bars on mine, you could go with 5 or 6 if you wanted more coverage?

Nah they are spaced about 8” apart? I can measure tonight if you like?

$300 for 4 bars that could support a RTT, I’m in. For $200 more I can replace the factory side rails if I wanted.

No need to measure....thank you. For $559 I can do 5 bars and the cargo stop bracket at both ends. Can move the front one back so it's just behind the moonroof....decisions, decisions......

And it would save cost on buying the Thule or Rhinorack J kayak brackets.....they cost more to buy them with the T-Track adapter.....

Ya sorry to make it complicated for you! I was trying to decide about 2 months ago as well. I’ve been very happy with my decision. Rago Fab also makes bars to go across however they are super low profile and you can’t get your hand under them to attach things.

I do like FrontRunner and have their boxes but mounting things can get pricey quick.

How would you mount a RTT to the Rago cross bars? I agree that it sits too low.

I am deciding between the two. Do you think you could you use the Frontrunner RTT Mount Kit #TBMK001?

    Thanks

Not sure on the Rago one, I’m assuming the FR mounts would work depending on the drilling’s, you’d have to mount the brackets before putting the bars on which is a pain.

On the LFD bars you have enough mounting holes and enough space underneath to do whatever is needed. They do recommend some rubber spacers in between the bars and tent mounts. Jay from LFD is who I worked with and I know he is on T4R.com but I’m not sure if he is on here.

I do like the look of the Rago bars but I think multiple people have brought up questions about them, cleaning, access, etc. I got some Rago stuff delivered this week and more coming Friday but that roof rack system won’t be one of them.

Prinsu is on a 2 week turn around right now but I’m not sold on that either with mounting options.

The Prinsu looks alot like LFD. More of a rugged “it looks ok but works great” design over the arguably better looking Rhino Rack.

I did try and 60x49 Rhino Rack with CXB clamp feet however the clamp feet didn’t actually fit over the bars so that went back too.

The Rhino Rack Pioneer platform uses a conversion kit and different feet that actually work. I saw an article where the guy used the CXB feet and they don’t actually work. Not sure why he’s promoting it. He said it’s never come off. When I called rackoutfitters they laughed and said the CXB isn’t for our stock 4Runner rails.

At I think it’s like the SX legs or something which to be looked the same as the CXB ones, guess not! Wasn’t a big deal, I got em off Amazon so returning was super easy

No problem, I have no affiliation with them, just a really happy end user. I got the chance to tour their shop and hear about some new stuff they’re working on this year....

That's cool. I was planning on the front runner rack but it's pretty pricey. LFD's set up seems to fit the bill for my uses just right and my back account won't hurt as bad either lol.

Sweet! You should start your own thread. Plan on ordering your 3/4 roof rack.

Not a bad idea, I may try that tomorrow.

Cool! I'm running our 7/8 at the moment, but switching to our new full in a few weeks when it's through production. I've been very pleased with it, have had it on our roofs in different versions since February.

Not sure who you contact to become a vendor on here but pretty sure one of the mods on here will see this. Excited to see more of your products as I'm sure other people on here are also.
