ARB and Dometic coolers are nice but expensive.

I just bought a good alternative, which is the RYBOI 50q cooler. What I like is that it is the same size or larger than a few ARB and DOMETIC models, but also doubles as an air cooler (think air conditioner in your tent, car, etc.), and you don't have to keep it plugged in and worry about draining your battery. It's about $200-$600 cheaper than competitors, and what I like is that I can bring an extra battery and charger, using the 4runners outlet to keep a fresh battery on hand at all times.

    Be well...

I looked them up and the one I found was $199.

I just read up on them and it requires ice to function as a cooler as opposed to the Dometic, ARB, Engel, etc’s which are true fridge/freezers with compressors and refrigerant to perform the cooling.

Never really needed to freeze anything offroad; personal thing though.

I would say that comparing the Rtobi to an ARB, Dometic, Engel, Snomaster fridge freezer isn’t really a try comparison considering one is a cooler and the others are fridges.

It’s more comparable to a Yeti Tundra 45, and Rtic, Igloo, etc

The con’s to the Ryobi is, when you run out of ice, you’ve lost the ability to cool things. Also, ice takes up space and requires the cooler to be drained.

With a true fridge I can set the cut off so I can preserve the battery and turn it off at night if necessary and once the vehicle is running I can turn the fridge back on to continue cooling the food and beverages.

This is why there’s a $600 difference in cost
