What have you done to your 5th Gen 4Runner today?

Why I like this forum I did turn off the "Check the back seat" display.

 

That is a shame ya. Man look at that, one season, savage.
Things like this happen though, I have tons of regrets with my lack of past rust protection. But my SPC UCAS and Bilstein shocks virtually haven't rusted and theyre 3 yrs old with high amount of BC road salt, near the ocean.. I just replaced my SPC grease zerk UCA balljoints with new and improved sealed balljoints - what a frickin relief. Big difference. Wish I could have done sealed from the get go instead of oil change interval greasing.

So this total chaos balljoint has no boot, what's on the under side?
Or at the very least, is it just that it has an optional top cap eh

 

Added the taco garage mount to my dash to get my phone off the windshield. Popped my iOttie one touch 6 to the ball mount.

Installed the Trail Grid Pro anytime front and rear facing camera system. Followed their YouTube video, and it worked! Took about 2.5 hours all in, and it wasn’t bad at all, just had to work carefully. The lines lie slightly outside the tire paths. Yellow tick mark is 18” from the bumper’s leading edge, green mark is 2.5’ and blue ceramic planter is 3.5’, so it’s a major fish eye lens.

I finally added molle panels and a tray from Victory4x4. This isn't my daily driver, so I can keep it all set up with most of my gear. These hold a LOT of stuff! The upper tray has a tent, moonshade, inflatable matress, tarp and pillow. I have a couple chairs on the right panel, and a shovel plus misc gear on the left. I also mounted an Anderson SB50 connector on the left panel. I still have some optimization work to do but I'm really happy with the quality and function... I think a magnetic paper towel holder may be next.

 

That's actually a very good example of making use of all the vertical space in the back, I like it!

 

This is a side bar from the camera installation: where did you get the dual port (blue lit)? I had something somewhat similar in my Tacoma a few years back. TIA!

 

Some nice TRD Pros at the dealership lot-
It was interesting that both have dashcam and console safe. All that getting the price tag close to whopping 60K. (Let's not start the debate could have got a GX460 since 4runner is more reliable, capable, comparatively better on mpg and fuel range.)

On another point, look how much USA employment is given by TRD Pros, much more that other trims fully made in Japan.

I just chatted with a guy on my BC Toyota 4WD group today who has a newer PRO but has deleted the lift kit and a few other add ons to push it to a more stock look and feel. I couldn't believe that
*edit he praises about the FOX suspension tho

 

It was a port installed “option.” More charging options for the wife.

 

Lot of work from wheels, tires, skid plates, roof rack to smaller items like badges are done by USA work force on the TRD Pro

Other trims come fully built in Japan unless packages like XP is purchased at the dealership. XP Package accessories are also done by USA work force.

 

Man I'd be choked if I paid that much for a Pro and got the old style Pro wheels on it vs the new style

Decisions on comparing which way to go in the spring with my 23 Pro. Stock size or 285’s. I know what the 265’s look like with the lift still good. Just not sure if I want the 285’s. Lol.

 

Added some 5mm strip lights to the awning. Yes, my driveway is tiny.

Anyone know what brand dash cam toyota uses? I want one.

 

Why pay more for lesser product? Why not buy good dashcams like Viofo or Blackvue, etc.. Aftermarket dashcams have better sensors nowadays like new Starvis2.

I highly doubt Toyota dashcam is anywhere closer good as these dashcams.

I also think looking at this Toyota dashcam, aftermarket dashcams allow better fit and finish, also better serviceability.

 

Don't get their brand. Get a FitCamX. They look OEM and have excellent 4k quality. I have one in my ride.

 

I have the same to install but I’m going to do UCAs at the same time. Be interested to see how 285s, if you go with them, clear with the WD Pro lift with the SCS offset.

Can you view what's on that dash cam on the touch screen? If it's a port-installed option, there must be a supplier for them here in the States? I use one of those Nexar Beam dash cams, it's synched to my phone, and has a memory card if I need to watch / save clips to my computer. I can also remove it and put it in another car if I need to. Nice to see car makers are offering dash cams as an option.

Does this one xmit to the touch screen??? If so does it do it?

 

I thought about getting a dash cam like the Nexar (before the FitCamX I previously had a Garmin Mini2), but I don't want a screen on the dash cam, that'd be distracting. I can easily pop out the mini-sd card and view it on my laptop or just download it to my phone via the app.

Also, the FitCamX is fixed in place. So I'm always getting the correct view & angle. Sometimes when cleaning my window, I would bump the old dash cam and then have to re-align it. Very annoying. Plus it looked like an aftermarket accessory that was installed. Which it was, but the FitCamX isn't noticeable at all. It looks OEM and like it's part of the overhead console.
